#14 Lady Buffs Travel to Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman’s for Final Road Trip of Regular Season

GAME NOTES

CANYON, Texas. –
#14 West Texas A&M is on the road for the final time in the regular season as they take on Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's this weekend.

Friday's game against the Lions will be played at Kyle Field in Rockwall, Texas due to the amount of rain in the area. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. WT will then travel to Texas Woman's on Sunday, Oct. 21, for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Pioneers.

TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
Since opening Lone Star Conference play 1-3-0, Texas A&M-Commerce (7-5-0, 4-4-0 LSC) has won three of its last four games to move them within four points of second place

The Lions are scoring 1.72 goals per game led by senior Sabrina Munguia with six goals. The transfer from North Texas has scored in four straight games after only scoring twice in the previous eight games. Michelle Kotlik has also come alive for the Lions scoring four of her five goals in the past six games.

Senior keeper Caitlin Duty has started in all 12 games for the Lions making 68 saves while allowing 21 goals for a .767 save percentage. She has also recorded three shutouts with the latest coming against UT Permian Basin on Sunday.

LAST MEETING
The Lady Buffs scored twice in the second half in their 3-0 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Sept. 23. Emily Avila was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring the eventual game-winner off a free kick in the 28th minute.

THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series 24-15-2 having won four of the past five matchups. The two teams played in Rockwall back on Oct. 24 with Lions winning 2-1.

TEXAS WOMAN'S
Texas Woman's (7-5-2, 4-2-2 LSC) are unbeaten in its last three matches including a pair of wins over UT Permian Basin and Angelo State on the road this past weekend.

Haley Ward has been the top offensive weapon for the Pioneers as the sophomore has scored 18 of the team's 16 goals this season. She was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals this past weekend in wins over UT Permain Basin and Angelo State. Libby Murphy has a team-high three assists.

Jazmine Maxwell has started in 10 games in goal with Daniela  Marin getting the nod in TWU's other four games. Only a freshman, Maxwell has only allowed six goals for a 0.57 goals against average while making 37 saves in 940 minutes played.

LAST MEETING
Khaline Jacob scored her seventh of the season right before half time with Calista Corder doubling the home teams advantage in the second half in WT's 2-0 victory on Sept. 21 at The Pitch.

THE SERIES
WT has won the past two meetings and lead the all-time series 17-5-3. The Lady Buffs are 1-3-0 in their last four trips to Denton with the last win coming on Sept. 23, 2016.

WT MOVES UP TO 14TH IN USC TOP 25
The Lady Buffs moved back in the Top 15in the latest United Soccer Coaches (USC) National Rankings released on Tuesday afternoon. They moved up to 14th after wins over Eastern New Mexico and MSU Texas.

REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Lady Buffs are ranked second in the first edition of the South Central Regional rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon. If the tournament started this weekend, WT would host and play the winner of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Westminster.

13 GAMES UNBEATEN
With their 2-1 victory over MSU Texas, West Texas A&M extended their unbeaten streak to 13 games for the first time since 2002 when Nickelback's How You Remind Me sat atop the Billboard Top 100. With a win or draw against Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday, they would break the program record set back in 2002.

KELLEY-LUSK LEADS LADY BUFF ATTACK
Hannah Kelley-Lusk is having a breakout season as the sophomore has scored eight goals and six assists for a team-high 22 points in 10 games. She scored or assisted in eight of those 10 games including in four straight dating back to Sep. 26 against Eastern New Mexico. She has also recorded a team-high 47 shots, 28 of those on-target for a shot on-goal percentage of .596.

DRA DEBESETTE DOES IT AGAIN
Khadidra Debesette has seen her role on evolve during her four years at WT. During her first two seasons, she was relied on heavily to score goals (which she did, scoring 14 in 35 games) to being more of a leader in the midfield over the past two seasons. Well, her golden right foot returned on Sunday as she scored her seventh career game-winner in the 102nd minute on a shot that deflected off the crossbar and in.

WT HEAD COACH CHAD WEBB
WT head coach Chad Webb, a two-time LSC Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs. He is 87-67-18 overall during his time in Canyon. He has led WT to a pair of NCAA appearances during his tenure. Webb won his 50th Lone Star Conference game in WT's 2-1 double overtime victory over MSU Texas on Sunday.

A LOOK AHEAD
