CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team makes its first Lone Star Conference road trip of the season this weekend as it travels to league-leading Angelo State for a 7 p.m. kick Friday evening and will play at UT Permian Basin Sunday at 1 p.m.

Fresh off a thrilling 2-1, come-from-behind victory over then-No. 11 Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday, the Lady Buffs are 3-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in Lone Star Conference play as Friday's matchup is between the top two teams in the league. Angelo State is 2-0 and 5-1 overall, while UT Permian Basin is 0-2 in conference play and 1-5-1 overall.Â

WT trailed 1-0 against TAMUC 7:47 into the contest as the Lions dominated the attack early, but the Lady Buffs didn't quit as senior Sydney Hickerson scored her first goal of the season in the 26th minute as the match was tied -1-1 at halftime. In the 81st minute, freshman Calista Cordero broke the tie with her second goal of the season off an assist in transition from freshman Noir Hawash for the win. WT junior goalkeeper Courtney Dippel tallied four saves and the one allowed goal in the contest as she earned her first career LSC Defensive Player of the Week honor. Dippel went 1-0-1 for the weekend and tied her season-high with five saves in a 1-1 tie against Texas Woman's last Friday.Â

For the season, the Lady Buffs have scored eight goals with seven assists for 23 points. They have 101 shots (.079) with 48 on goal (.475) and three game winners. Sophomore Marlene van Mourik leads the team with eight points on three goals and two assists. She has a team-high 37 shots (.081) with 23 on goal (.622) with one game winner. Cordero is second in scoring with four points on two goals. She has nine shots and five on frame with Sunday's game winner. Sophomore Shanelle Arjoon also has two assists on the year for the Lady Buffs.

In goal, Dippel has logged 633:01 minutes, allowing 10 goals (1.42 GAA), with 24 saves for a .706 percentage. She is 3-2-2 on the year with two shutouts. Freshman Syneca Pyzsko has played in one game for 36:59 minutes with one goal allowed and two saves.

The team has allowed 11 goals in seven games with eight assists and 30 points. The opposition has 78 shots (.141) with 37 on goal (.474) and two game winners.

WT head coach Chad Webb is in his eighth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, he is 67-61-14. Webb is 5-9-1 against Angelo State and 8-0 against UT Permian Basin.

Angelo State enters winners of four-straight and tallied wins at UT Permian Basin (4-1) and at Midwestern State (3-2) last week. The Rambelles rank 21st nationally and first in the LSC in scoring offense at 2.83 goals per game and rank 23rd nationally in points at 7.33 per contest. Forward Trenadey Scott ranks third nationally in goals per game and points per game and is fifth in goals with eight. She and Dippel were the LSC Players of the Week this week.

The Rambelles have scored 17 goals this year leading the league and ranking 46th nationally. The team is second in the LSC in total points with 44, ranking 56th nationally. Cassandra Moosburger is second on the team in goals with four and scored the winning goal in overtime at Midwestern State last week. Moosburger has 10 points, while Elizabeth Rodriguez has three goals and one assist for eight points.

Goalkeeper Sammy Cude is averaging 5.5 saves per game, which ranks second in the LSC as she has 33 saves on the year. Her 1.337 goals against average is fourth in the LSC.Â

ASU head coach Travis McCorkle is the winningest coach in program history as he is 96-54-14 at ASU in his tenth season and 136-101-18 overall in 15th season. McCorkle is 10-11-1 all-time against WT at both Angelo State (9-7-1) and Eastern New Mexico (1-4).

WT leads the all-time series with Angelo State 17-13-5. The teams split two meetings last season and the Lady Buffs have won two of three after ASU had won four straight and six of seven dating back to 2013. WT is 6-8-2 all-time in San Angelo and won last year there, 1-0 with a goal in the 51st minute from now-sophomore Ronnie Ajeto.Â

UT Permian Basin enters after a pair of losses last week to Angelo State and Midwestern State (3-0). UTPB ranks ninth nationally and first in the league in saves per game at 8.43. Goalkeeper Chenoa Crites is sixth nationally in saves per game and first in the league at 8.33, while she leads the league with 50 saves and is 32nd nationally. Offensively, Lauren Marenco is fifth in the league in assists with two, while Deonna Green also is fifth in the league in goals with three.

The Falcons are coached by Lindsey Garcia who is in her fifth season at the helm of the Falcons. She is 11-59-4 overall and 0-5 against WT. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series with UTPB 14-0 and posted two shutouts last season in a 1-0 win in Canyon and a 2-0 win in Odessa. WT has shutout UTPB in five-straight games and nine times overall.Â
