What is Next?...
The Lady Buffs will finish their three match road trip next week against Angelo State and UT Permian Basin. WT will travel to Odessa for a Thursday night matchup on Oct. 14 before traveling to San Angelo for a Sunday afternoon match against the Rambelles on Oct. 16.

About Eastern New Mexico…
The Greyhounds enter the week with six points in Lone Star Conference play with wins over Texas Woman's and UT Permian Basin. ENMU has outscored their opponents 16-2 in their three victories in 2016 including a 11-0 thumping of the University of the Southwest. They are 0-2-1 on the road this season and 0-1-0 in conference road matches.
Leading the ENMU attack is midfielder Mirka Zamarripa and forward Anniah Galdean. Zamarripa, a graduate transfer, joined the Greyhounds this fall from Southeast Missouri State and has scored four goals and one assist for a total of nine points. Galdean is tied for the team lead in assists with two while ranking second on the team in goals (3). Junior goalkeeper Marissa Torres has started all nine matches for the Greyhounds as she has made 45 saves while allowing 13 goals for a .776 save percentage. The Amarillo, Texas native allows 1.49 goals per game.

The Series with Eastern New Mexico…
West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico will meet for the 20th time in school history. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series 12-6-1.

About Midwestern State…
The Mustangs enter the third week of conference play in a first place tie with Texas A&M-Commerce and Angelo State after splitting last week's match. MSU's defense has been one of the best in the LSC as they allow 0.70 goals a match while holding their opponents to a .049 shot percentage.
Hanna Mattinson leads the Mustangs in in goals, assists, points and game-winners. The Freshman is a perfect 2-2 on penalty kicks while three of her team-high four goals have been game-winners. Destinee Williamson is second on the team with three goals as Nicole Coetzer has added two of her own. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Burnette has played every minute in goal for the Mustangs and leads the LSC in shutouts per game (.500). She has only allowed seven goals through 10 matches while making 51 saves on 141 shots faced.

The Series with Midwestern State…
The Lady Buffs and Mustangs will face off for the 39th time in school history. MSU leads the all-time series 19-17-2.

Highway 287 Challenge…
The match on Friday between WT and MSU will be part of the Highway 287 Challenge Cup. The Challenge originated at the request of both student bodies in 2012 and tracks head-to-head match-ups and conference championships results in 10 sports between the two schools. WT won the Cup the first two years before MSU won it for the first time last year.

A Look Back…
The Lady Buffs split LSC matches for the second straight weekend falling to Angelo State before defeating UT Permian for the 13th consecutive time in school history. After two weeks of conference play, the Lady Buffs are tied with Eastern New Mexico for second in the LSC with six points.
The Lady Buffs lost 2-1 to Angelo State in a heartbreaker on Friday night allowing a goal in the 85th minute after tying the match just minutes earlier. After falling behind on the 75th minute, senior Kaitlin Steele put WT on level terms scoring her first career goal in the 81st minute on a loose ball in front the net.  ASU scored the eventual game-winner in the 85th off a free kick.
Gabby Wolf scored her first career goal in the 7th minute in the Lady Buffs 1-0 victory over UT Permian Basin on Sunday afternoon at The Pitch. WT dominated the first half outshooting the Falcons 11-1 before holding off a late rally in the second half. Freshman goalkeeper Ellen Walgren picked up the shutout in her first career starting making four saves.

Lone Star Conference in the Rankings…
For the first time all season, the Lone Star Conference was not represented in the NSCAA Division II Top 25. Texas A&M-Commerce and Midwestern State both dropped out of the rankings after splitting both of their matches last week. The Lions are still receiving votes.

A First for Everything…
Kaitlin Steele and Gabby Wolf were the goal scorers for the Lady Buffs this past weekend. Steele has come close to tallying her first career goal on multiple occasions this season but finally put it all together against ASU. The Andrews, Texas native was in the right place at the right time finding a loose ball off a corner before tying the match.
Wolf didn't have to wait as long as Steele as she scored in just her eighth career match. The freshman forward put herself in a position after Marlene van Mourik timed her run perfectly on a through ball from fellow freshman Ronni Ajeto. After receiving the ball, van Mourik found a wide open Wolf in front of the net and the rest was history.
