Chad Webb his 50
th career victory Friday night at The Pitch as the Lady Buffs played to a 1-1 tie with Midwestern State. WT took the lead in the 64
th minute on
Haley Girard's header before giving up the equalizer in the 82
nd minute. It marks the first time this season that the Lady Buffs ended a match tied. The result moves the Lady Buffs record to 6-6-1, 3-2-1 in LSC conference play.
Both teams exchanged shots in the first 15 minutes with Desinee Williamson forcing
Courtney Dippel to make the save. WT best scoring opportunity came in the 18
th minute when
Karyn Forbes found space outside of the box but was unable to convert. MSU held a slight advantage, 12-8, in shots in the first half.
MSU opened the second half looking to take the lead with shots from Nicole Coetzer in the 52
nd, 54
th and 56
th minute. But it was the Lady Buffs who struck first on an absolute perfect free kick from Forbes in the 64
th minute. Girard found some space from her defender and calmly headed the ball in the back of the net. The Mustangs thought they had an equalizer two minutes later but Aly Wade's shot went wide. Neither did much to bother the keeper after WT gained the one goal advantage. After earning a free kick on the edge of the penalty box in the 82
nd minute, the Mustangs had the break they were looking for. Wade's ball found Destinee Williamson on the back post as Dippel was unable to put more than a hand on it.
MSU had two shots in the first ten minutes of overtime and nearly scored the golden goal in the 108
th minute when Carina Dunnahoo's shot looked good from a distance but was sniffed out by Dippel.
TURNING POINTAfter picking up a free kick just outside of the penalty box in the 82
nd minute, the Mustangs converted on the free kick. Aly Wade's ball found Destinee Williamson in the box to tie the match.
