WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The third-seeded West Texas A&M University women's soccer team, ranked No. 25 in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll, advaced to the Lone Star Conference Championship game with a 2-0 shutout over second-seeded and No. 20 Central Oklahoma University Saturday at Midwestern State University at Wichita Falls, Texas.

The Lady Buffs will take on top-seeded and 12th-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce in the Championship Sunday at 3 p.m. TAMU-Commerce knocked off fourth-seeded Midwestern State, 2-0, in the late semifinal.

WTAMU recorded its eighth-straight shutout, and the Lady Buffs ran their unbeaten streak to 10-straight games, having won six straight.

The win was also the second-straight 2-0 victory for the Lady Buffs over the Bronchos, as they defeated them by the same score on Oct. 31.

WTAMU scored its goals in a halftime sandwich, as senior midfielder Ashleigh Scott netted an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute, and the Lady Buffs took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

They struck again just 33 seconds into the second half, as freshman forward Sarit Shenar found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore forward Whitney Cates to put WTAMU up 2-0.

Junior netminder Jamie Griffis recorded her 10th shutout of the season and extended her LSC career record to 35 shutouts.

WTAMU's defense held UCO to only 11 shots on the night, but only two shots were on goal.

With the goal, Shenar surpassed Courtney Massie's school record for single-season goals, as Shenar netted her 18th goal of the season, passing Massie's 17 goals in 1998.

Shenar also has set a new WTAMU single-season for points, as she now has 41 (18 goals, five assists), passing Massie's 36 points in 1998.

The Lady Buffs advance to the conference title game for the third-straight year, as they lost to UCO last year, after winning the LSC championship in 2001.

WTAMU lost to TAMU-Commerce, 3-2, back on Oct. 3, at Commerce.
