WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team continued their hot streak, as they routed Angelo State University, 3-0, Thursday in the opening game of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The third-seeded Lady Buffs, ranked No. 25 in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll, recorded their seventh-straight shutout on their way to a nine-game unbeaten streak, having picked up five straight wins.

The win avenges a scoreless draw to the Rambelles back on Oct. 17. Sixth-seeded ASU ends the season 10-8-2 overall.

WTAMU improves to 12-3-2 overall and advance to the semifinals Saturday at 5 p.m, where they'll meet second-seed and No. 20 Central Oklahoma, in a rematch of last year's conference championship.

It will also be a rematch of a match-up from last Friday (Oct. 31), when the Lady Buffs defeated the Bronchos, 2-0, at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

In the quarterfinal win Friday, freshman forward Sarit Shenar led the Lady Buffs' attack, as she assisted on WTAMU's first goal of the game, by freshman midfielder Aubrey Findley in the 25th minute.

The Lady Buffs took the 1-0 lead into halftime, having outshot the Rambelles, 13-4 in the first half.

Shenar shook the net in the 64th minute on an unassisted goal and capped WTAMU's scoring with another unassisted goal in the 84th minute.

Junior goalie Jamie Griffis recorded two saves on the night, as the Lady Buffs' defense limited ASU to only seven shots for the game, with only two of them on goal.

Griffis tallied her ninth shutout of the season to extend her LSC record to 34 career shutouts.

Shenar netted her team-leading 17th goal of the season, which ties the school record set by Courtney Massie in 1998.

A spot in the NCAA-II Regional Tournament may be at stake in Saturday's semifinal, as WTAMU is currently ranked No. 3 and UCO is No. 4.
