The West Texas A&M University women's team played to a 3-2 loss to No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce Friday, October 3, at Commerce, Texas.
The Lady Buffs' Sarit Shenar opened the scoring in the 34th minute of the first half to give the Lady Buffs a 1-0 lead, which WTAMU took into halftime.
TAMU-Commerce started their cameback in the second half when the Lions scored to tied the game in the 55th minute.
The Lions then took the lead in the 79th minute and made WTAMU play catch up.
WTAMU junior Aubrie Hunter, scored her first goal on the year in the 84th minute to tie the game 2-2, off a rebound in front of the net.
Commerce scored the winning goal in the 87th minute to deal the Lady Buffs their first Lone Star Conference loss.
WTAMU finished the game with 23 shots while Commerce had 16 shots.
Goalkeeper Jamie Griffis had six saves on nine shots.
This is the first game the Lady Buffs have lost to TAMU-Commerce since 1997. In their previous meetings, WTAMU has never allowed more than one goal against TAMU-C.
The Lady Buffs record is now 5-3 on the year and they are back in action Sunday at noon, against Texas Woman's at Denton, Texas.
