ADA, Okla. -- The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team won their first game of a two game weekend series through Oklahoma, won going away, 4-0, against East Central University at Ada, Okla. Friday.
The Lady Buffs only took 27 minutes to score their first goal by junior midfielder Aubrey Findley, her second of the season, from freshman forward Sarit Shenar's 5-yard pass.
Shenar, in her first game back from playing for the Israeli National team in the European Championship, found the back of the net for the second and third goal of the game, which came not more than two minutes apart. Shenar's second goal of the match came from junior midfielder Nicole deJongh, who passed the ball from 10 yards out and Shenar slid to put it in the back of the net, to bring her season goal total to a team-high 12.
The Lady Buffs' final goal came in the 78th minute when freshman forward Dania Lopez scored her fourth goal of the year, off a cross by sophomore midfielder Roxy Sides.
WTAMU junior goalie Jamie Griffis earned her sixth shuotout of the year and extender her LSC career-record to 31 career shutouts, only having to deal with four shots.
The Lady Buffs let loose 15 shots on ECU's goalie along with eight corner kicks, while committing 13 fouls. The Tigers had only two corner kicks and four fouls.
This win for the Lady Buffs takes them to 9-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in Lone Star Conference action. ECU is now 5-9-1 overall and 2-4-0 in LSC.
The Lady Buffs now travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma to play Northeastern State (10-3-0) on Sunday, October 26th at 1 p.m.
