Oct. 17, 2003

Box Score

The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team tied 0-0 to Angelo State Friday, October 17th at Kimborough Memorial Stadium in a game that the Lady Buffs should have won and throughly dominated.

The Lady Buffs out played the Rambelles the entire 110 minutes the two teams played, missing on a few chances to score.

This tie between the Lady Buffs and the Rambelles is the first for both teams in their all-time series.

In the game, WTAMU rattled off 28 shots with 13 shots being on ASU's keeper Kristin Giuliano. ASU had only three shots on goal, two of those shots coming in the second half and the last in the second overtime period.

Junior keeper Jamie Griffis wasn't tested that much by ASU but the three opportunities the Rambelles had were good enough to give the Lady Buffs a scare.

Sophomore forward Whitney Cates lead the team with four shots on goal, while sophomore forward Katie Henley and junior midfielder Aubrie Hunter had three shots.

The Lady Buffs biggest shock was the 15 corner kicks they had with only two of those chances leading to potential goals. The Rambelles had no corner kicks.

WTAMU led the foul count with 21 to ASU's 15.

ASU extends their record to 7-6-1 overall, 1-2-1 in LSC.

The Lady Buffs now have two ties in LSC conference play (2-1-2) and are 7-3-2 overall.

WTAMU continues LSC conference play this Sunday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. against Midwestern State in a double header match with the Buffs who play at 4 p.m.
