CANYON, Texas – The #16 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M open their fall golf schedule on Sunday as they take part in the Travis Roy Memorial Invite hosted by South Dakota Mines at The Powder Horn Golf Club (Par 72) in Sheridan, Wyoming.
 
The 12-team event features 18 holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The field includes South Dakota Mines, Colorado Christian, Colorado School of Mines, Fort Lewis, Texas A&M International, Westmont, Colorado Mesa, CSU Pueblo, Westminster, West Texas A&M, Montana State-Billings and Augustana.
 
The Buffs will be paired with Augustana during the opening round that begins at 11:30 a.m. CT.

2025-26 saw the Buffs register eight different top five team finishes highlighted by victories at the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya as well as the Oak Tree Invitational. WT finished second at the NCAA Regional Championships in Stockton, California followed by a ninth place showing at the NCAA Championships.
 
Axel Ochoa enters his eighth season leading the WT men's golf program,, being named the eighth head coach in program history in January of 2020. Ochoa has led the Buffs to new heights, appearing in three consecutive NCAA Championships. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native was named the Lone Star Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2025-26, the first ever WT men's golf head coach to win the award. Ochoa was also tabbed the Golf Pride South Central Region Coach of the Year.
