Lady Buff Basketball Welcomes Ella Brown for 2026-27

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head women's basketball coach Josh Prock has announced the addition of Amarillo High School standout Ella Brown for the 2026-27 campaign.

"We are very excited and to add Ella Brown to our roster, she will be an ideal fit because her mentality fits our program's culture perfectly. Ella brings a tremendous amount grit and toughness, she is able to shoot with range at a very high level and has the ability to go off the dribble to make things happen for her team" said Prock "Ella's basketball IQ is at a very high level; she truly has a great understanding in how to play the game. The Panhandle of Texas a huge priority for us in recruiting and we will continue to do that this year and years to come."

The 5'10 guard recently completed her senior season for the Sandies under head coach Jeff Williams. Brown was selected to the Burleson Classic All-Tournament Team while receiving Honorable Mention All-District Honors, shooting 46% from behind the arc. She also excels in the classroom as a Superintendent Scholar.

"Signing another local standout continues the tradition of many tremendous young women who have played at WT who are from the Texas Panhandle" added Prock "Ella comes from a basketball family, her parents Tom and Trisha have instilled a tremendous amount of character and work ethic into all their kids and that shows on and off the floor. Ella is an ideal fit for our women's basketball program and again we are very excited to have her as part of our family."

"Ella is the perfect example of "trust the process" and good things will come. She spends time working on her craft others do not have the discipline or drive to achieve the lofty goals that Ella had for herself" said AHS head coach Jeff Williams "She is a great leader, awesome shooter, and an elite rebounder. Amarillo High has a long history of players that have excelled at WT and I see the same scenario playing out with Ella. She will give all she has to make WT better because that's what Ella does, she pours her heart and soul into her coaches, team, and teammates."
