#11 Lady Buffs Close Their LSC Road Trip in Laredo

CANYON, Texas – The #11 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M close their regular season road schedule on Saturday with a Lone Star Conference matchup against the Texas A&M International Dustdevils with tipoff set for Noon in Laredo.
 
TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE REWIND
The Lady Buffs shot 50% from the floor on Thursday night as they picked up a 65-50 Lone Star Conference road win against Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Steinke Center. Taylor Haggan scored 16 points and recorded three steals while making 7 of 10 field goals. Kenadee Winfrey contributed with four steals and added three assists. Taytum Bell tallied 11 points and secured three steals. Chloe Callahan scored seven points, including two 3-pointers.
 
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International enters the weekend with an overall record of 12-11 including a 9-8 mark in Lone Star Conference action as they look to snap a four-game losing skid. The Dustdevils are 7-4 so far this season inside of the KCB with home victories over UT Tyler, Huston-Tillotson, College of Biblical Studies, Oklahoma Christian, Cameron, UT Permian Basin and St. Mary's.
 
The Dustdevils suffered a 69-59 loss to Eastern New Mexico on Thursday night in Laredo. TAMIU shot 29.2% (19-of-65) from the floor as they connected just twice from behind the arc while turning the ball over 18 times. The Dustdevils were led offensively by Rachael Emmanuel who went 10-of-22 from the floor including 3-of-4 from the charity stripe for a game-high 23 points with 13 rebounds, one assists, one block and two steals. Bridgetts Tello added 17 points and four boards.
 
Jayden Smallwood leads the way offensively for the Dustdevils as the junior guard from Tulsa, Oklahoma has gone 53-of-184 (28.8%) from the floor including 6-of-34 (17.6%) from deep and 53-of-89 (59.6%) from the line in her 14 games to average 11.8 points per contest with 65 rebounds, 48 assists, 32 steals and seven blocks. The Collin Community College transfer has started 10 games this season, reaching double-figures 10 different times including a season-best 20 points against St. Mary's.
 
TAMIU HEAD COACH CASEY FOWLER
Casey Fowler is in his first season at the helm of the Texas A&M International women's basketball program. Fowler spent the last three seasons at Lyon College, leading the program through its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division III. Under his leadership, Lyon set multiple conference records, including most points in a game (144), average points per game (93.1), total assists (583), and total points in a season (2,515). His 2023-24 squad earned a runner-up finish at the USCAA National Tournament, and his 2024–25 team broke the conference record for most combined points in a single game (207).
 
THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the 10th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Dustdevils, WT is a perfect 9-0 all-time in the series that dates back to 2016. The Lady Buffs are 3-0 all-time in Laredo with their last trip coming in December of 2024.
 
Last year's meeting saw the Lady Buffs hold a 21-6 lead after the opening quarter in Laredo on their way to a 73-46 victory. WT shot 48.3% (20-of-60) from the floor as they forced 15 Dustdevils turnovers in the win. Taylor Haggan led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs, going 6-of-7 from the floor for a team-best 13 points to go along with eight boards, one assist and a steal. Randi Harding (11), Kyla Kane (11) and Hollie Stalder (10) also finished in double-figures for the Lady Buffs.
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC.
 
Prock reached the 300-career victory milestone on Thursday, December 4th in a 76-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 299-49 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.3%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).

The contest will be broadcasted on FloCollege. The LSC and FloSports reached a historic agreement in August for the largest streaming rights deal in NCAA Division II history.
