CANYON, Texas – The #11 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit the road for their final Lone Star Conference road trip of the season beginning on Thursday night as they battle the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas.

UT DALLAS REWIND
The Lady Buffs led wire-to-wire last Thursday night to pick up an 68-61 Lone Star Conference victory over the UT Dallas Comets at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.
Randi Harding scored 14 points and recorded three rebounds.
Taylor Haggan posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while also adding three steals.
Kyla Kane collected 10 rebounds and contributed eight points.
Kenadee Winfrey added seven points and registered four assists.
Henley West made an impact defensively with three blocks.

SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-17 with a 5-11 mark in Lone Star Conference action as they look to snap a three-game losing skid on Thursday night. TAMUK is 3-5 inside of the Steinke Center with home wins over Cameron, Oklahoma Christian and St. Edward's.

The Javelinas suffered LSC road losses at Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State last weekend. Saturday afternoon saw the Javelinas commit 26 turnovers which led to 24 Midwestern State points in a 67-60 win by the Mustangs. Kaycee Groves led the way offensively for TAMUK, going 9-of-15 from the floor including 4-of-8 from behind the arc for a game-high 23 points with seven boards, one assists, two blocks and three steals.

Groves has been the go-to offensive weapon for the Javelinas as the redshirt junior guard from Faith, South Dakota has gone 86-of-240 (35.8%) from the floor including 36-of-113 (31.9%) from deep and 34-of-44 (77.3%) from the stripe to average 11.0 points per game along with 119 rebounds, 54 assists, 39 steals and 18 blocks. The Black Hills State transfer has scored in double-figures 10 times so far this season including each of the last four contests with a season-best 25 points against St. Edward's.

TAMUK HEAD COACH MICHAEL MADRID
Michael Madrid is now in his seventh season at the helm of the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball program as he holds an overall record of 78-87 during his time in South Texas. He spent the previous two seasons as the head coach at San Jacinto Community College, leading the team to a pair of Region XIV Tournaments including a run to the NJCAA Tournament in 2016-17. Madrid, the 14th coach in the program's history, has 78 wins already under his belt with three Lone Star Conference tournament appearances.

THE SERIES
Sunday afternoon marks the 79th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Javelinas as WT holds a 67-11 advantage in the series that dates back to 1986. The Lady Buffs are 27-7 all-time at the Steinke Center, dropping their last to trips to South Texas in 2022 and 2024.

Last year's matchup saw the Lady Buffs shoot just 30.9% (17-of-55) from the floor including 20% (3-of-15) from behind the arc as the Javelinas forced 15 WT turnovers on their way to a 80-44 victory in Kingsville for the largest TAMUK margin of victory in series history.
Kyla Kane led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Wellington product went 4-of-11 from the floor and 2-of-4 from behind the arc for a team-high 12 points to go along with two rebounds, one block and a steal.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC.

Prock reached the 300-career victory milestone on Thursday, December 4th in a 76-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 299-49 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.3%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).
