CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes look to get back to their winning ways on Thursday night as they travel to Portales, New Mexico to take on the rival #19 Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds with tipoff set for 8:30 p.m. CT at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.

MIDWESTERN STATE REWIND
The then #16 Buffs saw a late lead disappear on Saturday afternoon as a 7-0 scoring run to close the game by the Midwestern State Mustangs handed WT a 70-68 Lone Star Conference defeat at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Brock Mishak scored 16 points, including one 3-pointer, and added five assists, contributing significantly to the team's efforts.
Fontaine Williams Jr. also scored 16 points, hitting two 3-pointers and converting all four free throw attempts.
Zach Brown tallied seven points and distributed five assists while collecting seven rebounds.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico enters the week with an overall record of 14-3 with a 7-2 mark in Lone Star Conference action. ENMU rides a two-game win streak as they are 4-3 this season in Portales with home victories over New Mexico Highlands, Northern New Mexico, Cameron and Oklahoma Christian.

Last weekend saw the Hounds pick up LSC wins over Midwestern State and then #5 Lubbock Christian. Saturday's contest in Lubbock had four different Greyhounds score in double-figures in a 85-80 victory. Jose Murillo was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week, going 10-of-15 from the floor for a team-high 23 points with 13 rebounds against the Chaps.

The senior forward from Chihuahua, Mexico leads the way offensively for the Greyhound, going 100-of-157 (63.7%) from the floor including 62-of-111 (55.9%) from the free throw line to average 16.4 points per game to go along with 149 rebounds, 22 assists, 12 steals and 26 blocks. Murillo has reached double-figures 14 times this season with nine double-doubles.

ENMU HEAD COACH DAVEN VÕ
Daven Võ is in his second season leading the Eastern New Mexico men's basketball program. Võ led the Greyhounds to an overall record of 18-11 and a trip to the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Championships in Frisco last season.

Võ came to Portales following one season as the Associate Head Coach at UC Colorado Springs. He brought more than 15 years of coaching experience to the Land of Enchantment and is no stranger to ENMU. He spent three years in Portales as an assistant coach from 2020-23.

THE SERIES
Thursday night marks the 119th all-time meeting in the rivalry series between the Buffs and Greyhounds. WT is 98-20 in the series that dates back to 1935 as the Buffs have won the previous 16 meetings. The Buffs are 43-12 in Portales as they have won seven straight in the Land of Enchantment. Both contests last season went to overtime.

The last meeting saw the Buffs claim a 95-90 victory at the First United Bank Center in double overtime. WT shot 39% (30-of-77) from the floor including 29.4% (10-of-34) from deep and 80.6% (25-of-31) from the charity stripe.
Ahamed Mohammed played all 50 minutes for the Buffs, going 11-of-26 from the field and 15-of-17 from the stripe for a game-high 39 points with eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

WT HEAD COACH TOM BROWN
Tom Brown, now in his 12th season at the helm of the West Texas A&M men's basketball program, has built the Buffs into one of the elite NCAA Division II programs in the nation.  He has guided WT to nine consecutive NCAA Tournaments including the Buffs first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship game in 2021.Â

Brown was hired as the 17th head coach in program history on April 16, 2014. In the past 10 seasons, Coach Brown and his staff are 279-67 (.810) and an average of 27 wins a season with appearances in the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four (2) and National Title game. During his time in Canyon, Brown is 299-80 (.792) overall and 160-46 (.782) in league action.Â

LSC PRESEASON POLL
Defending Regional Champion Dallas Baptist claimed 42 of the possible 51 first place votes for a total of 850 points to sit atop of the poll followed by St. Mary's (two first place, 724), Lubbock Christian (four first place, 720), St. Edward's (669) and West Texas A&M (two first place, 654) to round out the top five.

Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico tied for sixth with 592 points followed by Midwestern State (558), UT Permian Basin (468), Texas A&M International (one first place, 350), Texas A&M-Kingsville (330), Cameron (301), Oklahoma Christian (266), UT Tyler (260), Western New Mexico (193), UT Dallas (188) and Sul Ross State (88).

NABC DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL
The Buffaloes are receiving votes in this week's edition of the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday afternoon. The South Central Region is represented by Lubbock Christian (11th), Eastern New Mexico (19th), Black Hills State (21st), St. Edward's (25th), Dallas Baptist ((RV), West Texas A&M (RV) and St. Mary's (RV).

Lone Star Conference men's basketball league play is heating up, and seven teams are above .500 in conference play: No. 25 DBU (14-5, 8-1 LSC), No. 5 Lubbock Christian (16-3, 7-2), No. 24 Eastern New Mexico (14-3, 7-2), Western New Mexico (12-4, 6-3), No. 16 West Texas A&M, No. 18 St. Edward's (16-4, 5-4) and St. Mary's (12-5, 5-4 ). Texas A&M-Kingsville and new league member UT Dallas are both 4-4 in LSC play.

DBU had its 11-game winning streak snapped by StMU, but the Patriots have won 14-2 after starting the season 0-3. ENMU, WNMU and Texas A&M International have won back-to-back games.
