CANYON, Texas – The #16 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M struggled offensively on Thursday night as they fell in Lone Star Conference road action to the #5 Lubbock Christian Chaps at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.

West Texas A&M began the first half finding their rhythm, with
Brock Mishak's layup at 16:39 breaking the early scoring drought.
Fontaine Williams then contributed significantly, with a fast-break 3-pointer at 12:26 and another basket at 11:51, which helped WT narrow the score.Â

The Buffs briefly took the lead at 10:41 with Williams' 3-pointer, courtesy of an assist from
Jailyn Sledge. Although Lubbock Christian regained the lead, the Buffs managed to keep pace, with
Zach Brown and
Brendan Ballard securing offensive rebounds to maintain possession. Williams added crucial free throws with 11 seconds left, closing the half within one point, 35-34, in favor of Lubbock Christian.

WT began the second half trailing and worked to close the gap, with
Zach Brown contributing a layup at 16:42 to narrow the lead. However, Lubbock Christian responded with a scoring drive, extending their lead through efficient shooting in the paint. Despite strong defensive efforts, including multiple steals by Mishak, the Buffs faced a shooting challenge, converting only 9 of 28 field goals.

As the half progressed, Williams' three-pointer at 8:39 added to the Buffs' tally, but Lubbock Christian maintained their advantage by capitalizing on fast breaks and second-chance opportunities. The visitors ended the half with consistent free throw shooting from
Jaden Holt, but Lubbock Christian closed out leading 72-57.

Fontaine Williams scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and collected three rebounds. Sledge posted 11 points, connecting on five of 10 field goal attempts, while adding nine rebounds. Mishak recorded two steals and two assists during the game.
James Parlow Jr. also contributed with two steals and two points.

The Buffs return to the court on Saturday afternoon as they take on the Midwestern State Mustangs with tipoff set for 3:00 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls.
