CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M return to the court on Saturday afternoon with a Lone Star Conference road matchup at D.L. Ligon Coliseum starting at 1:00 p.m. against the Midwestern State Mustangs in Wichita Falls.
 
LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN REWIND
The Lady Buffs put on an impressive second half performance on Thursday night as they snapped a 22-game home win streak by the #11 Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps in LSC action at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock. Karley Motschenbacher led the team with 14 rebounds and converted 7 of 8 free throws while also adding two steals. Henley West finished with 15 points, making 5 of 8 field goals and blocking two shots. Claire Graham contributed 12 points, converting four 3-pointers from 11 attempts.
 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-9 including a 1-6 mark in Lone Star Conference action as they look to snap a four-game losing skid on Saturday. The Mustangs are 2-5 in Wichita Falls this season with wins coming over North Texas-Dallas (82-33) and Angelo State (65-58) inside of D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
Thursday night saw the Mustangs hold a 21-19 lead over Eastern New Mexico before the Greyhounds responded for a 66-54 league victory. Midwestern State committed 22 turnovers which led to 21 points by ENMU. Kerbie Cash finished the game going 5-of-18 from the floor including 2-of-4 from deep and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe for a team-best 21 points with 13 rebounds for a double-double. Ta'Leeyah Glynn also finished in double-figures with 13 points.
 
Cash leads the way offensively for the Mustangs as the sophomore guard from Wylie, Texas has gone 59-of-169 (34.9%) from the floor including 6-of-19 (31.6%) from behind the arc and 59-of-78 (75.6%) from the free throw line to average 15.3 points per game to go along with 93 rebounds, 12 assists, 23 steals and three blocks. Cash has reached double-figures in eight games so far this season with a season-best 32 points coming against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras back in December.
 
MSU HEAD COACH BRENITA JACKSON
Brenita Jackson is in her third season at the helm of the Midwestern State women's basketball program as she was introduced as the 12th head coach in school history in April of 2023. She came to Wichita Falls following two seasons at Texas Wesleyan, winning 52 games with two trips to the NAIA National Tournament. 
 
Jackson played collegiate basketball at Southeastern Louisiana helping the Lions to a Southland Conference East Division title in 2006-07 earning All-Conference and All-Academic honors during her senior campaign. 
 
THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the 77th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Mustangs as WT is 57-19 in the series that dates back to 1981. The Lady Buffs are 21-13 in Wichita Falls, dropping their last two trips to D.L. Ligon Coliseum (75-55) back in 2024 and 69-67 last season.
 
The last meeting saw the Lady Buffs commit 15 turnovers as the Mustangs outscored WT 24-15 in the fourth quarter on the way to a 69-67 victory in Wichita Falls. Kyle Kane went 7-of-17 from the floor including 4-of-8 from behind the arc for a team-best 18 points followed by Randi Harding (15) and Taytum Bell (14) also in double-figures.
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC. The Lady Buffs advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals.
 
Prock reached the 300-career victory milestone on Thursday, December 4th in a 76-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June, 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 296-47 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.3%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
 
LSC PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Texas A&M senior guard Kyla Kane was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year announced on Monday, October 20th. The 5-foot-10 native of Wellington, Texas, averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She shot 89.8 percent from the free throw line and made 56 3-pointers.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending Regional Champion Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).
 
WBCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL
The Lady Buffs remained seventh in the newest edition of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday.
 
The South Central Region is represented by Texas Woman's (3rd), WT (7th), Colorado Mesa (9th) and Lubbock Christian (T-11th).
 
LIVE COVERAGE
The contest will be broadcasted on FloCollege. The LSC and FloSports reached a historic agreement in August for the largest streaming rights deal in NCAA Division II history.
