CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M men's basketball head coach
Tom Brown announced the signing of Dyson Riley on Monday afternoon. Riley joins the Buffs squad from Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas.
In his senior season, Riley posted 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals per game where he was named First Team All-District for 7-6A under head coach Kevin Lawson. Riley also earned First Team All-City in Richardson for his contributions to the Eagles' team in addition to McDonalds Texas Invitational All-Tournament Team, Royce City Tourney MVP, and Metro City Showcase MVP.
"Dyson is a three-level scorer that can change a game in seconds. He ability to score around the rim on bigger players sets him apart from other scorers," said Lawson. "He is an elite athlete but an even better person. It was an honor to get the opportunity to coach him."
"Dyson Riley comes from a great family and a great basketball program at Richardson High School. He played at Richardson High School the last two seasons and put up some very good stats for a team that won 24 games against solid competition," added Brown. "He has a chance to make an immediate impact in our program at West Texas A&M University. Dyson has a lot of natural ability, and he has not come close to how good he can be on the court. He is a fantastic student as well and will fit in with our culture here at WT. He will only continue to get better as he is a worker and a competitor."
Last season, WT made the NCAA National Tournament for a ninth-consecutive season where three freshmen made the LSC All-Freshman team. The Buffs also posted a 3.48 GPA in the classroom. WT will open the 2025-26 season at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic, Oct. 31
