CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Academics Paul Sweetgall has announced his retirement effective July 31
st.

Sweetgall joined the Buffalo Athletics staff in August of 2000, he has directed the department's compliance operation since the fall of 2010. Prior to taking over the compliance and academic areas, Sweetgall was the men's cross country coach from 2007-2010. He assisted in the return of WTAMU's track & field programs to intercollegiate status during that time period and remains as the department's administrator for both track & field and cross country.
Sweetgall has also held duties in the areas of fund raising and directing ticket operations and media relations during his tenure at WTAMU. A proponent of community service, Sweetgall has been a member of the Canyon Lions Club since 2004. He has been the organization's treasurer and a member of its Board of Directors since 2006. He has been named the Club's Lion-of-the Year twice.
Sweetgall previously was the Director of Athletics Development at Emporia State University while also handling sports information and assisted with corporate fund raising at Missouri Western State University. He holds both his Master's and Bachelor's degrees from The Ohio State University.
