West Texas A&M Finishes Fourth in the Learfield Director’s Cup

CANYON, TEXAS –
 West Texas A&M Athletics has finished fourth in the Division II Learfield Director's Cup standings announced on Tuesday afternoon by the association's offices in Cleveland, Ohio.
 
It marks the eighth straight and 10th overall time that West Texas A&M has finished inside of the Top 10 including the seventh straight inside of the Top 5. WT finished the season with 737.75 points to finish fourth behind UIndy (832.00), Wingate (892.50) and 18-time winner Grand Valley State (1,089.75).
 
The Lone Star Conference is represented in the standings by WT (4th), UT Tyler (17th), Angelo State (45th), Lubbock Christian (67th), Midwestern State (72nd), Dallas Baptist (75th), St. Mary's (98th), Texas A&M-Kingsville (123rd), Oklahoma Christian (148th), Texas Woman's (164th), Cameron (182nd), UT Permian Basin (188th), Eastern New Mexico (201st), St. Edward's (201st), Western New Mexico (229th) and Texas A&M International (250th).
 
Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings. 
 
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
