FRISCO, Texas – West Texas A&M's Narit Chotikavanic and Noah Pagotto earned Lone Star Conference Player of the Year awards as announced by the league office at the men's basketball award banquet on Wednesday. Chotikavanic was named the league's Freshman of the Year while Pagotto earned Academic Player of the Year.
 
The Buffs repeat with the Freshman of the Year award after Kieran Elliott won the honor last season. Pagotto becomes the first Buffalo since Ryan Quaid in 2018 to win Academic Player of the Year.
 
Ahamed Mohammed earned First-Team accolades after leading the league in scoring at 18.7 points per game. The Glendale, Ariz. native also ranked in the top 15 in assists, field goals, free throw percentage, and minutes. It is Mohammed's second All-LSC honor after being named to the honorable mention team last season.
 
In addition to the All-Academic team honor, Pagotto earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Pagotto started all 28 games for the Buffs in the regular season, averaging 14.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
Chotikavanic led WT's All-Freshman team honorees. The Plano, Texas native averaged 10.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with 19 steals and two blocks. Joining Chotikavanic on the All-Freshman team were Amarillo, Texas native Jailyn Sledge and Geraldton, Australia native Bob Griechen.
 
The Buffs kick off the LSC tournament at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 7 against sixth-seeded and No. 25-ranked Midwestern State.
