CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M finished off a busy weekend with impressive performances in Austin, San Marcos and Portales.

WT returns to the track on March 4-5 as they make the short trip to Lubbock, Texas to compete in the Masked Rider Open at the Fuller Track & Field Complex on the campus of Texas Tech.

FRIDAY RECAP
The Buffs started off Friday's action in Austin qualifying for the finals in the 4x100m relay as the squad of
Jace Lynch,
Jerry Jakpa,
James Dadzie and
Isaac Botsio ran a time of 40.09. Later in the morning Dadzie (10.22) and Botsio (10.28) would qualify for Saturday's finals in the men's 100m dash.

The WT distance crew continued to impress at the Raleigh Relays as
Sarah Koomson (16:17.42) and
Naomi Addo (16:20.01) ran the third and fourth fastest 5K times in program history.
Elise Leveel ran a personal best and the 5th fastest time (34:45.06) in Lady Buff history in the outdoor 10K to finish 2nd in Heat 1 in Raleigh on Friday night.

The Lady Buff relay squad of
Asana Hamidu,
Abigail Abugire,
Peace Nwaelehia and
Blessing Akintoye registered the 3rd fastest outdoor time in WT history (3:39.56) to advance to the finals in Austin.
Calvin Allen was the lone WT runner on Friday in San Marcos as he ran a time of 3:50.55 to finish 6th in the men's 1,500m.

SATURDAY RECAP
Luke Holcombe picked up a victory in the men's shot put in Portales with a mark of 17.10m on his final attempt while
Ethan Hollinshead finished second overall (14.80m).
Jada Sewell claimed a second-place finish on the women's side with a throw of 14.16m followed by
Alex Tice in fourth (12.60m).

Troy Whyte impressed in the men's 110 hurdles as the Jamaica product ran a time of 13.75 for the fifth fastest outdoor mark in program history to finish second overall. Holcombe picked up his second win of the afternoon in New Mexico in the men's discus with a mark of 46.88m.

Isaac Botsio tied the 10th fastest outdoor time in WT history in the men's 100m finals in Austin with a time of 10.16 to finish 3rd followed by
James Dadzie in 5th (10.18). The women's 4x100m relay squad bested their prelim time in the finals with a 3:39.12 to finish third overall for the third fastest time in program history.

Hope Gray finished second in the women's weigh throw in Portales with a mark of 47.10m whileÂ
Khalil Bedoui won the event on the men's side with a mark of 57.34m, the fifth best throw in program history, followed by Holcombe in second with a 49.50m.
