CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M concluded their indoor campaign on a high-note on Saturday at the Fall Creek Pavillion as they registered sixth-place finishes at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships inside of the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
 
Anas Fadil started off Saturday with All-American honors in the men's triple jump as the freshman set a new personal best with a mark of 15.24m (50-0) on his second attempt to finish sixth overall. 
 
The women's 400m finals saw a pair of Lady Buffs claim All-American honors as 
Peace Nwaelehia claimed silver with a personal best time of 53.20 followed by 
Blessing Akintoye in fourth (53.58). Nwaelehia's time was the second fastest mark in WT indoor history while Akintoye's time now ranks fifth.
 
Abigail Abugire continued her impressive freshman campaign in the 800m finals, running the third fastest time in program history (2:07.22) to finish sixth overall. Akintoye claimed her second All-American accolade of the day in the 200m finals with a time of 24.25 to finish eighth.
 
Jerry Jakpa picked up a seventh-place finish in the men's 200m finals with a mark of 21.41. 
William Amponsah continued to impress in the 3,000m finals as the senior set a new school record with a time of 7:52.54 to claim a fourth-place finish.
 
West Texas A&M jumps directly into outdoor season next weekend as they host the West Texas Relays on March 21-22 at the WT Track & Field Complex in Canyon.
