CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs continue March Madness on Saturday night as they battle the rival #11 Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian in the South Central Regional Semifinals with tipoff set for 5:00 p.m. at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, Texas.
 
UT TYLER RECAP
The Lady Buffs overcame a slow start offensively as they picked up the program's 43rd victory in the NCAA Division II Tournament with a 58-47 win over #10 UT Tyler in the Regional Quarterfinals. Kyla Kane led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Wellington product went 6-of-13 from the floor including 6-of-10 from behind the arc and 3-of-4 from the line for a game-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds.
 
A LOOK AT THE LADY CHAPS
Lubbock Christian enters Saturday with an overall record of 30-4 overall including a 21-1 mark in LSC play to finish tied atop of the league standings. LCU is making their ninth appearance in the NCAA Division II Basketball postseason, winning three National Championships (2016, 2019, 2021) since transitioning to DII in 2013-14.
 
LCU's quarterfinal matchup with UCCS on Friday afternoon went down to the wire as the Lady Chaps pulled off a 68-65 victory over the Mountain Lions. Grace Foster led the way as the LSC Player of the Year went 10-of-18 from the floor and 9-of-9 from the line for a game-best 32 points with five boards.
 
The Lady Chaps, picked second in the LSC women's basketball preseason poll, finished last season with an overall record of 21-10 with a 16-6 mark in conference action. Lubbock Christian advanced to the South Central Regional Quarterfinals in Denton before falling to second-seeded Colorado Mesa, 68-61.
 
Foster, a two-time All-American and the D2CCA Regional Player of the Year, enters Saturday with 2,006 career points as the Childress product has gone 227-of-44 (51.1%) from the floor so far this season to average 20.5 points per game. Foster has grabbed 257 rebounds (7.6/game) to go along with 72 assists, 55 blocks and 36 steals so far this season as she averages 32.2 minutes per contest.
 
LCU HEAD COACH STEVE GOMEZ
Steve Gomez, the 2024-25 LSC Coach of the Year, is now in his 22nd season at the helm of the Lubbock Christian women's basketball program, holding an overall record of 551-156 during his time in Lubbock. He has led the Lady Chaps to three NCAA Division II National Championships since transitioning from the NAIA in 2013.
 
THE SERIES
Saturday night marks the 20th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Lady Chaps as LCU holds the 13-6 series advantage as the Lady Chaps have won the last five matchups. It is the fourth all-time meeting between the rivals in the NCAA Tournament as LCU has won two of the previous three in 2016 (88-68) and 2018 (56-53) before WT claimed a 59-54 win in Canyon in 2022.
 
The last meeting was just nine days ago as the Lady Chaps claimed a 55-34 victory during the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals at the Comerica Center in Frisco. 
 
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fourth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. Prock has led the Lady Buffs to three NCAA Tournament trips during his time in Canyon including the South Central Regional Championship during his first campaign in 2021-22.
 
Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 290-47 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.6%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LADY BUFFS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Lady Buffs are making their 29th overall appearance in the DII Basketball Postseason as they are 42-27 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with the 42 wins ranking fifth all-time in NCAA Division II and ranks fourth among active DII schools. 
 
WT has claimed eight Regional Championships with two appearances in the National Finals since the 1986-87 campaign. In the last eight NCAA tournament appearances for WT, the Lady Buffs are 19-8 during the stretch with four South Central Regional Championships and an appearance in the 2014 Division II National Title Game.
 
ALL-LSC SELECTIONS
West Texas A&M's Kyla Kane, Randi Harding and Claire Graham were honored for their efforts on the hardwood on Wednesday night as the three junior guards claimed All-Lone Star Conference honors as the annual league awards banquet in Frisco, Texas.
 
Kane was named to the All-LSC Second Team while Harding and Graham claimed Third Team accolades.
