CANYON, Texas – The #19 Lady Buffs hit the road for South Central Regional action on Thursday night as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado to take on the Mountain Lions of UCCS with tipoff set for 6:00 p.m. CT at Gallogly Event Center.

MSU DENVER REWIND
The Lady Buffs reached the century mark for the first time since 2018 on Sunday afternoon as they cruised past the MSU Denver Roadrunners, 101-69 at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
Randi Harding led the team with 13 points, converting 5 of 7 field goal attempts.
Taylor Haggan scored 17 points and collected six rebounds while adding two steals.
Kenadee Winfrey posted nine points, making 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN LIONS
The Mountain Lions enter the week with an overall record of 1-1 as they started the season at home last weekend in Colorado Springs. UCCS topped Division II newcomer UT Dallas (88-83) in the opener before faling to reigning South Central Regional Champion Texas Woman's, 80-69.

Ayianna Johnson leads the way offensively for the Mountain Lions as the junior forward from Jefferson, Wisconsin has gone 16-of-26 (61.5%) from the floor including 9-of-12 (75%) from the charity stripe to average 20.5 points per game to go along with 12 rebounds, one assist and three steals. Johnson is a transfer from the University of Colorado as she played in 31 games, averaging 5.0 points per game for the Buffaloes last season. She began her collegiate career at the University of Minnesota in 2023-24 where she saw time in 31 games with six starts for the Gophers.

The Mountain Lions are coming off a 19-12 overall record last season including a 12-8 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. UCCS claimed wins over Adams State, Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa to win the RMAC Tournament Championship for the second time in school history. UCCS earned the RMAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament as they fell to second-seeded Lubbock Christian in the quarterfinal round, 68-65 in Denton.

UCCS HEAD COACH MISTY WILSON
Misty Wilson is now in her third season at the helm of the UCCS women's basketball program, leading the Mountain Lions to an overall record of 43-21 during her two seasons in Colorado Springs including a run to the RMAC Tournament Championship and the NCAA South Central Regional Quarterfinals last season.

Wilson spent nine seasons as the head coach at Tarleton State, going 113-61 during her time in Stephenville with three trips to the NCAA Tournament (2017, 2018, 2019) while winning the 2017 LSC Tournament Title. Prior to taking the reigns of the program in 2014-15, Wilson served 12 years as an assistant coach from 2002-14. Prior to starting her coaching career, Wilson had an extraordinary playing career at TSU from 1998-2001. The TSU Hall of Fame member competed in 103 career games, she scored 1,440 career points and was the season scoring leader three years in a row and is currently the eighth-best scorer in school history.

THE SERIES
Thursday night marks the 14th all-time meeting on the hardwood between West Texas A&M and UCCS, the Lady Buffs hold a 11-2 all-time record in the series that dates back to 1991. The Lady Buffs are 3-1 all-time in Colorado Springs with their last trip coming in 2019.

The last meeting between the two teams took place on November 14, 2024 in Canyon during Community Day at the First United Bank Center. The Lady Buffs connected on their first six attempts from behind the arc on the way to a 73-49 win.
Claire Graham led the way for the Lady Buffs going 6-of-11 from the floor including 3-of-7 from behind the arc for a game-high 16 points followed by
Randi Harding (15),
Kyla Kane (11) and
Hollie Stalder (10) in double-figures.
Taylor Haggan grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with four points, one assist and a steal.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC. The Lady Buffs advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals.

Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June, 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.

HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 291-47 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.6%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LSC PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Texas A&M senior guard
Kyla Kane was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year announced on Monday, October 20th. The 5-foot-10 native of Wellington, Texas, averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She shot 89.8 percent from the free throw line and made 56 3-pointers. She was a second team all-LSC selection.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending Regional Champion Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).

RUNNIN' IT BACK
Graduate student
Karley Motschenbacher returns to the Lady Buffs for her final season of eligibility in 2025-26 after a season away from the court. The Moorehead, Minnesota product is a three-time All-Lone Star Conference honoree as she has seen time in 95 games with 89 starts for the Lady Buffs, averaging 32.2 minutes per contest. She scored her 1,000th career point back on January 20, 2024 at Eastern New Mexico and is just the 25th player in WT history to score 1,000 points as a Lady Buff.
