CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs close out their preseason schedule on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Waco, Texas to take on the #18 Baylor Bears with tipoff set for 4:00 p.m. at Foster Pavillion.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
The Bears enter the 2025-26 season with high expectations as they finished last season with an overall record of 28-8 as they went 15-3 during Big 12 action. Baylor advanced to the finals of the Phillips Big 12 Championship before falling to TCU (64-59) and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Bears defeated Grand Canyon (73-60) in the opening round before falling to Ole Miss (69-63) at Foster Pavillion.

Darianna Littlepage-Buggs was a unanimous pick for the All-Big 12 Preseason Team. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native has already surpassed the 1,000-point mark with 1,084 and enters her senior season with 820 career rebounds. Bella Fontleroy's selection to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team marked the first preseason honor of her career. She was a unanimous pick for the Big 12 All-Freshman Team in 2023 and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team following the 2025 season.

The 2024-25 season featured runner-up finishes for the Bears in both the Big 12 regular season and the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. BU led the conference in rebounds per game, powered by a standout season from Littlepage-Buggs, who earned WBCA Honorable Mention All-America honors and was the only player in the league to average a double-double.

BAYLOR HEAD COACH NICKI COLLEN
Nicki Collen was introduced as the fifth Head Coach in Baylor women's basketball history on May 5, 2021 and received a contract extension to 2023 that was announced in July of 2024. She enters her fifth season at the helm in 2025-26.

Collen came to Baylor from the WNBA's Atlanta franchise, where she spent the last three seasons at the helm for the Dream. Her rookie season in Atlanta resulted in a 23-11 season in 2018, where she earned WNBA Coach of the Year honors and helped the franchise to the WNBA Playoff Semifinals. Prior to her arrival in Atlanta, she spent two seasons under former head coach Curt Miller of the Connecticut Sun, helping the franchise improve from fifth in the East Division to second from 2016 to 2017, respectively.

ARIZONA REWIND
The Lady Buffs led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter on Thursday night, holding strong during a fourth quarter comeback attempt to claim a 60-57 exhibition victory over the Arizona Wildcats at McKale Memorial Center in Tucson, Arizona.

Randi Harding led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Mustang, Oklahoma product went 5-of-14 from the floor including 2-of-7 from behind the arc and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe for a game-best 15 points to go along with one assist and a block.
Kyla Kane added 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double followed by
Karley Motschenbacher and
Taylor Haggan with nine points each.

THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the sixth all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Bears. Baylor leads the series, 4-1 dating back to the 1974-75 campaign. WT's last trip to Waco came on November 3, 2021 as the Bears claimed a 92-37 victory at the Ferrell Center. BU's Foster Pavillion opened on January 2, 2024 as the state of the art $212 million dollar facility hosts one of the best home court settings in all of NCAA Division I basketball.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 29th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2024-25 campaign as they went 19-13 overall with a 12-10 mark in the LSC. The Lady Buffs advanced to the South Central Regional Semifinals.

Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June, 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.

HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 290-47 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.6%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LSC PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Texas A&M senior guard
Kyla Kane was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year announced on Monday, October 20th. The 5-foot-10 native of Wellington, Texas, averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. She shot 89.8 percent from the free throw line and made 56 3-pointers. She was a second team all-LSC selection.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were selected fourth in the 2025 LSC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Defending Regional Champion Texas Woman's claimed 20 of the possible 51 first place votes to sit atop of the poll with 810 points followed by Lubbock Christian (14 first place, 776), UT Tyler (eight first place, 761), West Texas A&M (six first place, 663) and Eastern New Mexico (two first place, 657) to round out the top five. Angelo State (656) sits sixth followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (564), UT Permian Basin (466), Midwestern State (461), St. Mary's (438), St. Edward's (363), Oklahoma Christian (310), Cameron (262), Texas A&M International (one first place, 210), UT Dallas (168), Western New Mexico (161) and Sul Ross State (77).

RUNNIN' IT BACK
Graduate student
Karley Motschenbacher returns to the Lady Buffs for her final season of eligibility in 2025-26 after a season away from the court. The Moorehead, Minnesota product is a three-time All-Lone Star Conference honoree as she has seen time in 95 games with 89 starts for the Lady Buffs, averaging 32.2 minutes per contest. She scored her 1,000th career point back on January 20, 2024 at Eastern New Mexico and is just the 25th player in WT history to score 1,000 points as a Lady Buff.
