CANYON. Texas – The Lady Buffs close out their Lone Star Conference homestand on Sunday afternoon as they welcome the rival #20 Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian to the First United Bank Center with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. in Canyon.

MIDWESTERN STATE RECAP
WT trailed by as many as 11 points early in the fourth quarter before a spirited comeback capped off by a
Randi Harding layup with two second remaining gave the Lady Buffs a thrilling 69-67 LSC victory over the Midwestern State Mustangs. Kyle Kane and
Claire Graham led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the pair of guards scored 17 points each followed by Harding with 16 and
Hollie Stalder with 11.Â

A LOOK AT THE LADY CHAPS
LCU enters Sunday afternoon with an overall record of 11-3 including a 5-1 mark in LSC play following a 59-53 victory at Eastern New Mexico to snap a two-game losing skid. The Lady Chaps dropped a pair of Top-25 games in Las Vegas before the holiday break to #8 Embry-Riddle (66-58) and #3 MSU-Billings (71-58).

Grace Foster led the way for the Lady Chaps in Portales as she went 4-of-10 from the floor including 7-of-8 from the stripe for 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds and three blocks for her fifth double-double of the season. Maci Maddox (14) and Kennedy Chappell (10) also finished in double-figures.

The Lady Chaps, picked second in the LSC women's basketball preseason poll, finished last season with an overall record of 21-10 with a 16-6 mark in conference action. Lubbock Christian advanced to the South Central Regional Quarterfinals in Denton before falling to second-seeded Colorado Mesa, 68-61.

Foster, a two-time All-American, enters Sunday afternoon with 1,575 career points as the Childress product has gone 83-of-173 (48%) from the floor so far this season to average 18.9 points per game which ranks second in the LSC. Foster has grabbed 117 rebounds (8.4/game) to go along with 25 assists, 28 blocks and seven steals so far this season as she averages 33.1 minutes per contest.

LCU HEAD COACH STEVE GOMEZ
Steve Gomez is now in his 22nd season at the helm of the Lubbock Christian women's basketball program, holding an overall record of 531-155 during his time in Lubbock. He has led the Lady Chaps to three NCAA Division II National Championships since transitioning from the NAIA in 2013. A 1988 graduate of Lubbock Christian, Gomez was a standout student-athlete for the Chaps where he still holds the program record for career free throw percentage.

THE SERIES
Thursday night marks the 17th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Lady Chaps as LCU holds the 10-6 series lead. WT has won four of the last seven meetings in the series. LCU is 3-4 all-time in Canyon including 3-3 inside of the First United Bank Center, winning their last two trips in 2023 and 2024.

The last meeting came during the 2023-24 regular season finale at the First United Bank Center as
Karley Motschenbacher went 4-of-5 from the floor including 5-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 14 points to go along with nine rebounds in a 61-58 loss to the Lady Chaps.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his fourth season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 28th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2022-23 campaign as they went 21-11 overall including a 14-8 mark in Lone Star Conference action.Â

Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June, 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.

HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 285-44 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 86.6%. WT has averaged 1,035 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

The contest will be broadcasted on FloCollege. The LSC and FloSports reached a historic agreement in August for the largest streaming rights deal in NCAA Division II history.

HOME OF CHAMPIONS
West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The Buffs and Lady Buffs finished third in the 2023-24 Division II LEARFIELD Director's Cup standings. It marked the sixth straight and eighth overall time that WT finished inside of the Top-10 including the fifth straight inside of the Top-5.
