CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head women's basketball coach
Josh Prock has announced the addition of Canyon native Chloe Callahan for the 2024-25 campaign.
Â
"Chloe is an outstanding young lady who we know will be a great addition to our team. She had an outstanding career at Canyon High and had solid years while playing at North Texas and Tarleton State" said Prock "Winning a state title in the state of Texas is not easy and doing that along with being named MVP is very impressive. Chloe is a young lady who will bring a great amount of versatility to our lineup. She is able to guard multiple positions and can score at all 3 levels."
Â
Callahan returns home following Division I stops at North Texas and Tarleton State. She appeared in 11 games during her time in Denton, going 5-of-13 (38.5%) from the floor to go along with nine rebounds, four assists and five steals. The following season in Stephenville the 5'10 guard went 6-of-15 (40%) from the floor including 4-of-10 (40%) from behind the arc as she grabbed 10 rebounds along with seven assists, two blocks and five steals.
Â
"Recruiting young ladies who can guard multiple positions and can score at all three levels gives us a lot of versatility to our lineup" added Prock "Chloe will bring a good amount of toughness to our team as well and will help us raise the competitiveness within our team. She is a young lady that will represent our program well on and off the court and we are very thankful she is in our program."
Â
Callahan registered a standout prep career at Canyon High School where she was a three-year letterwinner for the Lady Eagles, being named a Team Captain twice and earning First Team All-District honors three times. As a senior she led CHS to the Class 4A State Championship, being named the MVP of the State Tournament while earning All-State accolades. She was named the 1-4A TGCA Basketball Player of the Year to earn a spot in the TGCA All-Star Game.
Â
Chloe is the daughter of Reid and Montess Callahan and she has two siblings, Candain and Bailey. She is expected to major in Business Marketing at West Texas A&M.
Â
"We are so excited for Chloe to be playing for the Lady Buffs next season! Chloe had a phenomenal career at Canyon High School. She helped lead our team to a State Championship in 2021 while receiving the State Tournament MVP and TCGA Player of the Year" said Canyon High School head coach Tate Lombard "Chloe is a fierce competitor that performs best in the biggest moments. She is a very instinctive player that has the ability to score the ball and make dynamic plays on defense."
