CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes improved their team score by five strokes as they fired a 279 (-5) during the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional Championships at NMSU Golf Course (Par 71 – 7,242 Yards) in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
WT registered 18 birdies on Friday highlighted by six feathers from
Luis Palomo with four of those coming on the back nine on his way to a round in the red with a 68 (-3) as the sophomore from Barcelona, Spain sits tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard with a 139 (-3). Amarillo product
Wyatt Provence carded a 67 (-4) on Friday with five birdies to enter the final round tied for sixth overall with a 138 (-4).
The Buffaloes registered rounds of 284 and 279 to hold a one-stroke lead over Colorado Christian (-4, 564) heading into Saturday's final round. Four players sit top of the individual leaderboard with a 136 (-6) as Luke Emerson (UTT), Adam Duncan (CCU), Leandro Mihaich (OC) and Chris Wardrup (CSUSB) battle for the individual title.
The Buffs will be paired with Colorado Mesa and Colorado Christian on Saturday with traditional tee times starting at 12:40 p.m.
