CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M freshman
Jack Lankford shot rounds of 69, 70 and 69 for a 208 (-5) to finish tied for third at The Sam Proal Invitational hosted at Pueblo Country Club (Par 71 – 6,428 Yards) by CSU Pueblo.
The Randall High School product led all players in par-four scoring (3.74) as he finished tied for the second most birdies (14) during the 54-hole event. Lankford and the Buffs registered 56 birdies over three rounds to lead the 16-team field in feathers.
Peyton Jones of Colorado Christian won the individual crown with rounds of 68, 65 and 70 for a -10 (203) for a one-stroke victory over Marius Dosiere of CSU Pueblo (204, -9). Colorado Christian won the team crown with a -11 (841) to finish eight-strokes ahead of the host Thunderwolves (-3, 849).
The Buffs travel to Mayetta, Kansas next week to take part in the Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn at Firekeeper Golf Course & Resort in the final tune-up prior to the start of the LSC Championships on April 20-22.
