CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes finished seventh on the team leaderboard as they concluded the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya (Par 72 – 6,980 Yards) in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Carlos Fernández Mortera led the Buffaloes on Tuesday as the senior carded an even-par 72 with four birdies and 10 pars as he finished tied for 14
th overall, jumping 19 spots on the leaderboard in the final round.
David Vega Gerstel also tied for 14
th with rounds of 75, 77 and 76 for a 152 (+8).
The Buffs shot rounds of 310, 307 and 300 for a team total of 917 (+53) to finish seventh on the team leaderboard. WT had 32 birdies and 148 pars over the three-day event.
UT Permian Basin claimed the team championship with a total of 888 (+24) for a two-stroke victory over Colorado Mesa (+26, 890). UTPB's Dian Wilmot and UT Tyler's Blake Harwell tied atop of the individual leaderboard with a -3 (213).
WT closes out their fall schedule on October 12-13 as they host the annual Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at Amarillo Country Club.
