CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes claimed their second tournament win of the season on Tuesday afternoon as they shot rounds of 287 and 301 for a 588 (+28) to claim the team title at the Oak Tree Invitational at Oak Tree Golf Country Club (Par 70 – 7,102 Yards) in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Victor Estas led the way for the Buffs as the junior from Kortenburg, Belgium registered rounds of 73 and 73 for a +6 (146) to finish tied for sixth overall. Estas had five birdies during the two-round event with four feathers coming in Monday's opening round.
WT finished with a four-stroke lead over LSC foe Lubbock Christian (+32, 592) followed by Harding (+#4), UT Permian Basin (+36) and Cameron (+37) to round out the top five. The Buffs finished with the best par-four scoring average (4.26) of the 18-team field as they had 24 birdies and 103 pars during the weather-shorted 36-hole event.
The Buffs return to the course on March 30-31 in Pueblo, Colorado as they take part in The Sam Proal hosted by CSU Pueblo at Pueblo Country Club.
