CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M shot rounds of 283 and 291 for a 574 to sit fourth on the team leaderboard following the opening two rounds of the Firekeeper Open (Par 72 – 7,030 Yards) at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas.
Isidoro Castaño led the way for the Buffs as the freshman competed as an individual, firing rounds of 71 and 69 for a 140 (-4) to sit tied for fifth as the Argentina product registered 10 birdies on Monday with six of those coming during the opening round as he also registered an eagle on the 390-yard par-four 10
th hole during the second round.
The Buffs finished the day with 49 feathers with 29 of those coming in the opening round. Central Missouri sits atop of the team leaderboard with a 559 (-17) for an eight-stroke lead over host Washburn (-9, 567). UCM's Alex Gentry fired rounds of 66 and 68 for a -10 (134) to hold a three-stroke lead over Washburn's Daniel Duffin and Minnesota State's Ben Laffen (137, -7).
WT will be paired with Central Missouri, Washburn and Missouri Southern State during Tuesday's final round as a shotgun start begins at 9:00 a.m.
