CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs close their Hill Country road trip on Saturday afternoon as they make their way to Austin, Texas for a Lone Star Conference crossover matchup with the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's, tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Recreation & Athletics Center in the state's capital.

ST. MARY'S RECAP
The Lady Buffs started their road trip with a win on Thursday night as four players in double-figures lifted WT to a 71-62 Lone Star Conference crossover victory over the St. Mary's Rattlers at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas.

Nyalam Thabach led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the senior post went 4-of-16 from the floor including 8-of-9 from the free throw line for a team-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Karley Motschenbacher scored in double-figures in the sixth straight contest with 10 while
Kyla Kane (12) and
Grace Alvarez (10) also chipped in double-digits.

A LOOK AT THE HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers enter the weekend with an overall record of 8-17 with a 5-14 mark in LSC action following a 66-58 loss to the Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian on Thursday night. SEU is 6-7 this season inside of the Rec & Athletics Center in Austin.

St. Edward's finished the 2022-23 campaign with an overall record of 14-17 with a 10-12 mark in Lone Star Conference play as they advanced to the 2023 Lone Star Conference Championships at the Comerica Center in Frisco, falling to the top-seeded Pioneers of Texas Woman's (62-50) in the quarterfinal round.

Janiah Perkins leads the way offensively for the Hilltoppers as the freshman guard from San Antonio has gone 120-of-299 (40.1%) from the floor including 19-of-61 (31.1%) from behind the arc and 97-of-138 (70.3%) from the free throw line to average 14.2 points per game to go along with 95 rebounds (17 offensive, 78 defensive), 81 assists, 35 steals and four blocks.

SEU HEAD COACH J.J. RIEHL
J.J. Riehl is now in her 12th season at the helm of the St. Edward's women's basketball program as she holds an overall record of 164-164 during her time in Austin with a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. She took over the program in 2012 following a decade as the top assistant, helping the Toppers to the 2005-06 Heartland Conference Title. Riehl played her college career at SEU, earning two all-conference honors during her time on the hilltop.

THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the 13th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Hilltoppers as WT holds the 11-1 all-time advantage with the Lady Buffs claiming the last five meetings in a series that dates back to 1998. The Lady Buffs are 3-1 all-time in Austin, winning their last trip to the capital in overtime, 79-77 in 2022.

Kyla Kane go 6-of-10 from the floor including 3-of-5 from behind the arc for a team-high 21 points while
Nyalam Thabach finished with a double-double (21 points, 12 rebounds) in a 78-57 victory by the Lady Buffs at the FUBC in Canyon.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his third season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 28th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2022-23 campaign as they went 21-11 overall including a 14-8 mark in LSC action.Â

Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 272-37 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 87.7%. WT has averaged 1,025 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LSC BASKETBALL PRESEASON POLL
Defending LSC Tournament Champion Angelo State picked up 15 of the possible 44 first place votes for a total of 652 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Texas Woman's (17 first place, 633), UT Tyler (nine first place, 627), Lubbock Christian (three first place, 606) and West Texas A&M (524) to round out the top five.

Texas A&M-Kingsville was tabbed sixth with 492 points followed by St. Edward's (379), Cameron (311), Oklahoma Christian (270), UT Permian Basin (270), Eastern New Mexico (248), Western New Mexico (233), Texas A&M International (225), UAFS (202), Midwestern State (172) and St. Mary's (140).

Grace Foster of Lubbock Christian and Sawyer Lloyd of Angelo State were named the 2023-24 Co-Preseason Players of the Year. Foster and Lloyd headline a list of 16 LSC Players to Watch in the 2023-24 season.
