CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes shot a 280 on Tuesday to finish fifth at the Houston Classic hosted by Southern Nazarene at the Golf Club of Houston (Par 72 – 6,945 Yards) in Humble, Texas.
Pepe De La Concepción Quílez led the way for the Buffs as the sophomore from Valencia, Spain fired rounds of 77, 73 and 71 for a 221 (+5) to finish tied for fifth. WT fired a 280 during the final round with 22 birdies on the day including eight feathers by
Wyatt Provence who shot a 65 (-7) on Tuesday.
Midwestern State claimed the team title with rounds of 303, 293 and 287 for a three-round total of 883 (+19) to finish with a five-stroke lead over Central Oklahoma (+24, 888). Seth Bearden of MSU won the individual crown with a -4 (212) for a four-stroke victory over UCO's Jordan Wilson (216, E).
The Buffs continue their spring schedule on March 4-5 as they take part in the Hardscrabble Invitational hosted by Arkansas-Fort Smith at Hardscrabble Country Club.
