CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs finish up their Lone Star Conference road trip on Saturday afternoon as they make their way to Portales, New Mexico for a divisional showdown with the Greyhounds of Eastern Mexico with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m. CT at Greyhound Arena.

WESTERN NEW MEXICO RECAP
West Texas A&M senior post
Nyalam Thabach reached the 1,000 career point plateau on Thursday night as the Lady Buffs ended their Lone Star Conference losing skid with a 69-62 victory over the Western New Mexico Mustangs at Drag's Court in Silver City, New Mexico.

The Boise, Idaho product went 4-of-14 from the floor including 1-of-2 from behind the arc and 10-of-11 from the free throw line to finish the night with a team-high 19 points to go along with eight boards and four assists.
Azia Himeur (12) and
Karley Motschenbacher (11) also finished the game in double-figures for the Lady Buffs.

A LOOK AT THE GREYHOUNDS
The Greyhounds enter the weekend with an overall record of 5-10 with a 1-8 mark in Lone Star Conference action following a 73-57 loss to the Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian on Thursday night in Portales.

Eastern New Mexico finished the 2022-23 campaign with an overall mark of 12-15 with a 9-13 record in league action to miss out on the Lone Star Conference Championships at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. ENMU finished the campaign with a 7-7 record inside of Greyhound Arena with five of those victories coming during LSC play.

Deja Adrian leads the way offensively for the Hounds as the senior from Houston, Texas has gone 58-of-138 (42%) from the floor including 7-of-30 (23.3%) from behind the arc and 59-of-77 (76.5%) from the free throw line to average 12.1 points per game to go along with 82 rebounds (28 offensive, 54 defensive), 29 assists, 22 steals and five blocks.

ENMU HEAD COACH BLAKE HUBER
Blake Huber is in his first season at the helm of the Eastern New Mexico women's basketball program, being named the head coach in June of 2023. Huber spent the 2022-23 season as the head coach at Texas A&M-Texarkana where he took the Eagles to a 29-2 record, being named the Red River Conference Coach of the Year. He led the team to their first ever tournament appearance and victory, advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament.

THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon marks the 92nd all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Greyhounds as WT holds the 78-13 advantage in the series that dates back to 1980. The Lady Buffs are 28-8 all-time inside of Greyhound Arena, dropping their last trip.

Hollie Stalder and
Kyla Kane both led the way with 12 points each in a 68-62 victory by the Greyhounds to snap a nine-game win streak by the Lady Buffs in Portales.

WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock is now in his third season at the helm of the Lady Buff Basketball program. The Lady Buffs made the program's 28th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason during the 2022-23 campaign as they went 21-11 overall including a 14-8 mark in LSC action.Â

Prock was introduced as West Texas A&M's head women's basketball coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.

HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 272-37 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 87.7%. WT has averaged 1,025 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.

LSC BASKETBALL PRESEASON POLL
Defending LSC Tournament Champion Angelo State picked up 15 of the possible 44 first place votes for a total of 652 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Texas Woman's (17 first place, 633), UT Tyler (nine first place, 627), Lubbock Christian (three first place, 606) and West Texas A&M (524) to round out the top five.

Texas A&M-Kingsville was tabbed sixth with 492 points followed by St. Edward's (379), Cameron (311), Oklahoma Christian (270), UT Permian Basin (270), Eastern New Mexico (248), Western New Mexico (233), Texas A&M International (225), UAFS (202), Midwestern State (172) and St. Mary's (140).

Grace Foster of Lubbock Christian and Sawyer Lloyd of Angelo State were named the 2023-24 Co-Preseason Players of the Year. Foster and Lloyd headline a list of 16 LSC Players to Watch in the 2023-24 season.
