CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes fired a 294 (+6) in Thursday's opening round to sit tie for sixth on the team leaderboard at the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional Championships at Foxtail Golf Club (Par 72 – 6,851 Yards) in Rohnert Park, California.
Daniel Unger leads the way individually for the Buffs as the Karlstad, Sweden product shot a two-under 70 on Thursday to sit tied for fourth overall. The Buffs registered 18 birdies during the opening round to go along with an eagle on the par-five 16
th hole by
Santiago Caride.
Colorado Christian shot an impressive 281 (-7) on Thursday to hold an eight-stroke lead over Western New Mexico, Stanislaus State and Simon Fraser (298, +1). Peyton Jones of CCU shot a 66 (-6) during the opening round to hold a four-stroke lead over Stanislaus State's Nathan Jetton and Sonoma State's Griffin Pace (-4) heading into Friday's second round.
The second round will see the Buffs paired with Hawaii-Hilo along with five individuals beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT.
