CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes are in contention at the 2023 Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at Amarillo Country Club (Par 71 – 6,937 Yards) as they enter Tuesday's final round in third on the team leaderboard.
The first round saw the Buffs shoot a 289 (+5) to finish the round tied for fifth overall.
Luis Palomo registered five birdies including four feathers on the front nine to finish in the red with a 68 (-3). WT tallied 12 birdies in the opening round to go along with an eagle by
Wyatt Provence on the 558-yard par five 13
th hole. The primary Buffalo squad improved their second-round score by six strokes to move into third place with a 283 (-1) for a two-round total of 572 (+4).
Dallas Baptist fired rounds of 276 and 290 to sit atop of the team leaderboard with a 566 (-2) for a four-stroke lead over UT Permian Basin (+2, 570). Sangha Park of UT Permian Basin, the reigning LSC Golfer of the Week, impressed on Monday with rounds of 63 and 70 to hold a three-stroke lead (133, -9) over Lukas Taggart of Colorado School of Mines.
Tomorrow's final round will see traditional tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Amarillo CC.
