ABILENE, Texas – The No. 29 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M scored 44 points at the Big Country Festival to finish just three points behind Texas Christian. WT had three runners finish in the Top 10 to lead to the Lady Buffs runner-up finish.
Senior
Florance Uwajeneza was the top performer for WT as the All-American was just one-of-three runners to finish the 4-kilometer course in under 14 minutes. She ran 13 minutes, 50.7 seconds to set a new personal best, finishing behind Abilene Christian's Irene Rono in 13 minutes, 41.9 seconds.
Eleonora Curtabbi, the defending NCAA DII Steeplechase National Champion, placed fourth on Friday night with a time of 14:01.9 while sophomore
Betty Bajika came in sixth at 14:46.2.
Freshman
Lexi Maul finished 15
th at 15:06.3 to grab points for the Lady Buffs followed by
Raquel Chavez (19
th),
Anete Randma (21
st), and
Kallie Bullard (31
st).
