Kamirah Decker Joins the Lady Buffs for the 2022-23 Campaign

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Women's Basketball head coach Josh Prock has announced the addition of Eastern New Mexico transfer Kamirah Decker for the 2022-23 campaign.

"When we began looking for the final piece of our recruiting class we knew we needed to add some more depth to our front line. Kamirah came available and with our familiarity with her we knew she would be a perfect fit" said Prock "Having the opportunity to coach Kamirah obviously made this an easier decision knowing her strengths already. She is a very physical post that has tremendous experience already in the LSC and is someone that does understand how to win."

Decker comes to Canyon from Lone Star Conference rival Eastern New Mexico where she saw time in 79 games with 19 starts during her time in Portales. The 6'2 post went 174-of-365 (47.7%) from the floor including 65-of-113 (57.5%) from the charity stripe to average 5.3 points per contest to go along with 262 rebounds, 37 assists, 27 blocks and 57 steals for the Greyhounds.

The Rio Ranch, New Mexico native registered a standout prep career at Rio Ranch High School under head coach Scott Peterson, leading the Rams to the New Mexico Class 6A State Championship during her senior campaign.

"Kamirah has the ability to shoot from inside and outside the paint. She also understands how we want to defend and rebound so that will also make it an easier transition for her and us" added Prock "Her personality and energy will be someone that West Texas A&M fans will love watching. She will be a tremendous representative on and off the court."
