CANYON, Texas – The top-seeded and Lone Star Conference Champion Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continue the Lone Star Conference Championship on Saturday night as they take on the fifth-seeded and 14th ranked Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps in the semifinal round with tipoff set for 6 p.m. at the Comerica Center.
TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL RECAP
The Lady Buffs used a 24-0 scoring run in the first half that spanned over 11 minutes of action to top Texas A&M International, 75-56 on Friday night during the quarterfinal round of the LSC Basketball Championship in front of over 1,200 fans at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
Zamorye Roberts led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the junior guard went 11-of-19 from the floor including 7-of-13 from behind the arc for a game-high 30 points to go along with six assists, three steals and a block.
A LOOK AT THE LADY CHAPS
Lubbock Christian enters Saturday's semifinals with an overall record of 26-5 as they finished tied for third in the LSC standings with a mark of 12-4. The defending Division II National Champions topped Angelo State, 60-51 on Friday night in the quarterfinal round in Frisco as Juliana Robertson led the way with a game-high 20 points to go along with 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Nazareth product Allie Schulte leads the way for the Lady Chaps as the graduate student has gone 118-of-235 (50.2%) from the floor including 29-of-81 (35.8%) from behind the arc and 62-of-70 (88.6%) from the free throw line to average 11.7 points per game to go along with 100 rebounds, 90 assists, 84 steals and 10 blocks.
LCU HEAD COACH STEVE GOMEZ
Steve Gomez is now in his 19th season at the helm of the Lubbock Christian women's basketball program, holding an overall record of 474-130 during his time in Lubbock. He has led the Lady Chaps to three NCAA Division II National Championships since transitioning from the NAIA in 2013. A 1988 graduate of Lubbock Christian, Gomez was a standout student-athlete for the Chaps where he still holds the program record for career free throw percentage.
WT HEAD COACH JOSH PROCK
Josh Prock was introduced as WT's new head coach on June 2, 2021. Prock is no stranger to the Lone Star Conference as he spent eight seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico leading the Greyhounds to their only three NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. Over the past four seasons in Portales, he accumulated a record of 77-41 including ENMU's first LSC Championship in program history in 2016-17 where he was named the league's Coach of the Year.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the finest multi-purpose facilities in the country as the First United Bank Center has served as the home of the Lady Buffs since January 26, 2002. The Lady Buffs are a staggering 257-37 inside of the FUBC during that time for a winning clip of 87.2%. WT has averaged 1,029 fans per contest since the facility opened its doors with the largest crowd coming on Opening Night with 4,941 members of Buff Nation seeing the Lady Buffs take on rival Abilene Christian.
LADY BUFFS IN THE LSC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lady Buffs are in the Lone Star Conference Championship for the 29th straight campaign and the 34th overall time which is the most of any LSC institutions. WT is 59-18 all-time at the LSC Championship for a winning percentage of 76.6%. The Lady Buffs have made 22 appearances in the Title Game with 15 Championships since 1987.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL RANKINGS
Texas A&M-Commerce sits atop of the rankings followed by Lubbock Christian, Texas Woman's, Colorado Mesa, West Texas A&M, Colorado School of Mines, Westminster, Colorado State-Pueblo, MSU Denver and Angelo State.
The top eight teams in the South Central Region will take part in the Regional Tournament taking place on March 11-14 at the top overall seed, the winners of the two conference tournaments (LSC, RMAC) will receive an automatic bid into the postseason with the last six spots being filled by at-large selections.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The 2020-21 season saw WT claim seven LSC Regular Season Championships, three LSC Tournament Titles, three Regional Championships, four Top-three track & field finishes, a men's basketball national title game appearance and the 2021 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship.

Three members of the Lone Star Conference Champion Lady Buffs were honored for their efforts on the hardwood on Wednesday night during the annual LSC Women's Basketball Awards Banquet held in Frisco, Texas.

Zamorye Roberts picked up All-LSC Second Team honors while Motschenbacher was also named to the league's All-Defensive Team.
