FINAL RESULTS
CANYON, Texas - Florance Uwajeneza won the individual title as the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M finished fourth at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday morning in Joplin, Mo.
The University of Arkansas won the meet with 38 points with No. 12 Southwest Baptist in second with 130 points with No. 22 Dallas Baptist in third. The Lady Buffs were fourth with 176 points, their best finish at the stampede in program history.
Uwajeneza improved to 5-for-5 on the cross country course as the junior used a strong final mile to cross the finish in 16 minutes, 43 seconds. It also marks the first time in her career going under 17 minutes in a 5,000-meter cross country race.
Eleonora Curtabbi finished second for the second straight race behind Uwajaneza in a time of 16:44.84.
Raquel Chavez ran a personal best time of 18:03.31 to finish 29
th with
Grace Dwyer finishing in 44
th, 18:21.81.
Betty Bajika was the fifth runner for the Lady Buffs in 105
th, 19:13.58, while
Daphne Pate finished 147tth, 19;44.28.
On the men's side,
Noah Bundrock finished 28
th after covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:27.77.
Calvin Allen finished 56
th in 26:27.14 with
Hunter Bellis finishing 114
th, 28:0.92, in his collegiate debut.
