CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M will make their sixth straight appearance in the lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championships starting on Saturday, April 3, in Canyon as the league announced the bracket for the tournament on Wednesday night.
All 13 LSC women's soccer teams competing in the league schedule this season were seeded within their division by points per match due to all conference regular season matches not being completed. Texas Woman's was assigned the seventh seed in the tournament. All games will be held on campus sites with the first round on April 3 followed by the quarterfinals on April 6, semifinals on April 10 and the championship match on April 13.
DBU earned the top seed and an automatic spot in the quarterfinals after earning 2.667 points per match and claiming their first LSC divisional championship in women's soccer. The Patriots finished the regular season unbeaten with a 10-0-1 mark overall and a 5-0-1 record in conference matches. DBU will face the winner of the match between No. 4 Midwestern State and No. 5 UT Tyler.
West Texas A&M claimed the No. 2 seed in its division after a 4-1 regular season in the LSC and 2.400 points per match average. The Lady Buffs will face No. 7 TWU in the first round in Canyon, Texas. Texas A&M-Commerce holds the No. 3 seed in the tournament after a 3-2 division record and collecting 1.800 points per match. TAMUC will host No. 6 Oklahoma Christian in the first round on Tuesday.
Angelo State is the No. 1 seed in the other division after completing an undefeated run of 5-0-0 in conference play earning 3.000 points per match on the way to a division title. The Rambelles finished the regular season 7-0-0 and automatically advanced to the quarterfinals. ASU will face the winner of the first round contest between No. 4 Texas A&M International and No. 5 St. Mary's in Laredo, Texas.
Lubbock Christian secured the second seed in the six-team division earning 1.800 points per match. The Lady Chaps finished tied on points per match with St. Edward's but won the tiebreaker with their 2-0 win in head-to-head competition. LCU earned a first round bye and await the winner of No. 3 SEU and No. 6 UT Permian Bain in the quarterfinals in Austin, Texas.
Each of the 12 Spring 2021 championship matches will be played at on-campus sites hosted by the higher seed with host teams determining match start times. If both teams advancing to the championship match are the same seed, a coin flip will determine the host. The winner of the tournament will be named the LSC Champion.
