CANYON, Texas –
No. 4 West Texas A&M hits the road this weekend for the first time since Feb. 6 with a pair of games against Cameron. Tip for Friday's contest is set for 7 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. tip on Saturday.

A LOOK BACK AT OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
WT pushed their win streak to six games on Saturday with a 75-51 victory over Oklahoma Christian at the First United Bank Center. Joel Murray led all scorers with 24 points with Qua Grant chipping in 22 points and eight rebounds.

After shooting 37.1 percent in the first half including 12.5 percent from 3-point range, the Buffs got use to the Eagle zone to shoot 50 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc to win their third straight over OC.

DEFENSE IS KEY
The Buffs held OC to 51 points, the lowest against a Division II opponent since their trip to Puerto Rico in December 2015. It was 16th time under head coach Tom Brown that WT held an opponent to under 60 points.

A LOOK AT CAMERON
Cameron enters the week at 1-12 overall and LSC play having not played since a 85-75 overtime loss to UT Tyler on Feb. 8. The Aggies are led by Andrew Brown, who is in his fifth year as head coach.

The Aggies rank 10tth in the LSC in scoring offense at 73.1 points per game but are allowing 85.4 points per contest. They are also allowing opponents to shoot 48.1 percent from the floor and 36.6 percent from 3- point range.

Brock Schreiner is the leading scorer for the Aggies at 17.7 points per games shooting 41.9 percent from the floor, 37.8 percent from three and 82.2 percent from the free throw line. The junior guard has scored in double figures 10 times including a pair of 31-point performances. He has also made at least one 3-pointer in all 13 games this season.

Marques Warrior Jr. ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.0 points per contest to go along with a team-high 16 steals. The Oklahoma City, Okla. native scored a season-high 23 points in his last outing against UTT.

Kendall Scott does it all for the Aggies as the junior is averaging 9.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He has three double-doubles this season including a 22-point, 13 rebound performance against Midwestern State on Dec. 12.

INSIDE THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series 38-16 including a 13-9 record in Aggie Gym in Lawton, Okla. Brown is 10-3 all-time against the Aggies with eight of those wins coming since a 79-70 loss in the LSC Quarterfinals in 2016.

MORE AWARDS PLEASE
Murray was named the Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career on Monday afternoon. The junior, who leads the league in scoring, averaged 25 points and five assists in wins over Western New Mexico and OC. He is also shot 5.1.5 percent from the floor and 88.2 percent from the free throw line.

MR. STEAL YOUR PASS
It's quite possibly that Murray could have been named the league's defensive specialist of the week after becoming the Buff's all-time leader in steals in the first half of Saturday's game against OC. The junior's 157 steals in just 81 games are one more than David Chavlovich's 156. He must not get complacent with the record as Grant has 151 steals, the third-most in program history.

KEEP SHOOTING KID
Zach Toussaint didn't have the best start against OC missing five of his first six attempts from beyond the arc in the first half. He probably remembered Michael Scott's famous quote about missing the shots you don't take at half as the sophomore went 2-of-3 from 3-point range to help the Buffs outscore the Eagles by 17 in the second half. For the season, the sophomore is shooting 43.1 percent from 3-point range.

NO CHARITY (STRIPE) NEEDED
With his 22-point performance on Saturday, Grant has now scored 20 or more points 33 times in his career, 19 of those coming in the friendly confines of the First United Bank Center.

In his past two 20-plus performances, the junior has not attempted a free throw; something that only happened once in the previous 31 occasions.

IF YOU'RE NOT FIRST, YOU'RE LAST
Ricky Bobby lived by that phrase but there is no scientific evidence to prove if ti is right or wrong. Either way, Murray and Grant have each scored the opening points for the Buffs in three games this season. Since hitting free throws in the season opener against Texas A&M-Commerce WT has opened the game with 2-pointers in nine of their last nine games.

A LOOK AT THE NCAA RANKINGS
The Buffs are scoring 93.4 points per game the season, the seventh-most in NCAA DII men's basketball. They rank second in turnovers forced and turnover margin, fourth in 3-point field goals per game and seventh in scoring margin.

Individually, Murray ranks first in the LSC and 11th in scoring. He also ranks 13tth in steals per game (2.4). Grant, a 6-foot guard, ranks 18th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game.

LET'S LOOK AT THE POLLS
The Buffs are now ranked fourth in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 that was released on Tuesday afternoon. Colorado School of Mines remained atop the rankings with 12 first-place votes followed by Northern State (three first-place votes) and Northwest Missouri State (one first-place vote). WT moved up a spot to fourth with Truman State in fifth followed by Mercyhurst, Colorado Mesa, Lincoln Memorial, Lubbock Christian and Alabama-Huntsville. Texas A&M-Kingsville is ranked 12th with DBU up two spots to 13th.

WT also moved up two spots to eighth in the latest D2SIDA rankings after sitting at 10th for the past two weeks. The Buffs are one of four schools from the LSC ranked in the poll with LCU in 2nd, TAMUK in 15th and DBU in 18th.

BUFFALO CHIPS
Grant moved up to fourth on the all-time scoring list with his 22-point performance against OC on Saturday. He has now scored 1,457 points in 81 games passing Reggie Ramey and Jordan Evans in WT's 75-51 win over the Eagles.

Murray is one of eight players in program history to score over 1,300 points as the junior has 1,325 in 81 appearances in Maroon & White. If the season ended today, his 22.5 points per game would be the fourth-best scoring average in a single season in program history.

Murray is also close to moving up on the all-time assist list as the Rowlett native is 10 dimes shy of passing Lionel Foster for fifth. When he passes Foster, he would become the second Buff to rank in Top 10 in scoring and assists.

UP NEXT
WT hosts St. Edward's on Monday, Feb. 22, before a home-and-home with No. 9 Lubbock Christian later in the week.
