WACO, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continued to step on the floor against high-level talent on Wednesday night as the defending Big 12 Champion Lady Bears of Baylor forced 23 turnovers on their way to a 92-37 exhibition win at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.
Haylei Janssens led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Moreno Valley, California native finished the game with five points and a team-high eight rebounds to go along with one assists and a block.
McKauley Gregory also scored five points while grabbing six boards with
Karley Motschenbacher and
Jillian Sowell each scoring five points on the night.
The Lady Buffs finished the game 13-of-57 (22.8%) from the floor including 4-of-20 (20%) from deep and 7-of-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line with 34 rebounds (eight offensive, 26 defensive), five assists, 23 turnovers, two blocks and three steals in the loss.
NaLyssa Smith proved why she was named Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year as the senior from Converse went 12-of-15 from the field including a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe for 34 points to go along with eight rebounds, one block and one steal. Baylor finished the game going 33-of-62 (53.2%) from the floor including 3-of-18 (16.7%) from deep and 23-of-31 (74.2%) from the free throw line with 46 rebounds, 18 assists, nine turnovers, five blocks and 11 steals.

The Lady Buff struggled from the floor in the first half as long scoring droughts sent them into the locker room trailing 48-17. WT went 6-of-25 (24%) from the field including 3-of-9 (33.3%) from deep and 2-of-2 from the free throw line with 13 rebounds (three offensive, 10 defensive), three assists, 13 turnovers, one block and no steals. Baylor finished the half going 17-of-29 (58.6%) from the floor including 1-of-7 (14.3%) from behind the arc and 13-of-19 (68.4%) from the stripe with 22 rebounds, eight assists, four turnovers, one block and nine steals.
