Long Ball Lifts Central Washington Past West Texas A&M, 79-63

NAMPA, Idaho – The Wildcats of Central Washington connected 14 times from behind the arc on Saturday night as they outlasted the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs, 79-63 to close out the Northwest Nazarene Classic at the Johnson Sports Complex in Nampa, Idaho.
 
Alivia Lewis led the way for the Lady Buffs as the grad student from Los Lunas, New Mexico went 6-of-11 from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line for a team-high 14 points to go along with five rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Karley Motschenbacher went 5-of-15 from the floor to score 12 points while leading the Lady Buffs defensively with 10 boards and three assists for the double-double.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the game 26-of-72 (36.1%) from the field including 7-of-23 (30.4%) from behind the arc and 4-of-5 (80%) from the stripe with 38 rebounds (15 offensive, 23 defensive), 11 assists, 11 turnovers, three blocks and eight steals.
 
Kizzah Maltezo led the way for the Wildcats as the senior went 8-of-12 from the floor including 7-of-9 from deep for a game-high 23 points to go along with three assists and a rebound. CWU finished the night going 27-of-49 (55.1%) from the floor including 14-of-23 (60.9%) from deep and 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line with 34 rebounds, 22 assists, 16 turnovers, two blocks and four steals.
 
COMING UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs return to the First United Bank Center next weekend as they host the annual Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic with matchups against Fort Lewis and Western Colorado while Southwestern Oklahoma State will also take part in the women's side of the event.
