#15 Buffs Complete the Sweep of St. Edward’s in Canyon, 5-2

CANYON, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to five games on Sunday afternoon as they completed the Lone Star Conference weekend sweep of the St. Edward's Hilltoppers in front of over 200 fans at Wilder Park in Canyon.
 
The Buffs hit the road for a four-game Lone Star Conference series next weekend as they head to San Antonio, Texas to take on the St. Mary's Rattlers starting on Friday at 5 p.m. at Dickson Stadium.

RECAP:
The Hilltoppers started off the scoring in the top of the first inning as they loaded the bases with one out before a Ty Markee RBI fielder's choice that plated Jacob Vasquez for the 1-0 lead. The Buffs responded in the home half of the inning as Kyle Moos lifted a sac fly to deep left field to score Keone Givens to tie the game at 1-1.
 
WT took the lead in the home half of the fourth inning as Reese Patterson scored on a Hilltopper error in the outfield followed by a walk to Givens that slipped past the catcher as the senior ended up on second base with two outs, Tanner Schuetz and Givens would score on another wild pitch to run the lead to 5-1.
 
St. Edward's would cut into the lead in the top of the fifth as Blake Holub singled to left center with one out to drive in Vasquez and make it 5-2.
 
Todd Danzeisen picked up the win (2-0) on the mound for the Buffs as the senior lefty allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits with two walks and a strikeout in his seven innings of work. Carter Brown picked up his first career save, striking out two batters in the final frame.
