SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M had their chances on Sunday afternoon as they battled back and led in extra innings before falling to the St. Mary's Rattlers, 9-8 in Lone Star Conference action at Dickson Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
The Buffs return to the friendly confines of Wilder Park next weekend for a four-game Lone Star Conference series against the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville starting on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in Canyon.

RECAP:
The Rattlers got on the board first in the home half of the opening frame as Steven Wynn singled to left field with two on and two outs to drive in Keaton Milford for the 1-0 advantage. The Buffs responded in the top of the second inning as
Keone Givens singled to left field with two outs to drive in
Marcel Lacasse to make it 1-1.
St. Mary's took the lead again in the bottom of the second as Ragan Forrest singled thru the left side to score Patrick Fennell before
Todd Danzeisen battled back to force a double-play ball to
Darius Carter at third followed by a fielder's choice groundout to send the teams to the third with StMU leading 2-1.
The Buffs would tie the game again in the top of the third as
Clay Koelzer homered down the right field line with one out to make it 2-2. St. Mary's plated three runs on four hits in the home half of the fifth inning as Fennell singled up the middle to score Milford followed by a two-run single to left by Derek Mueller to give St. Mary's the 5-2 lead.
WT tied up the game again in the top of the sixth as Carter singled to left with the bases loaded and one out to drive in
Luke Hughes and
Izaiah Madrid followed by a wild pitch that scored Givens to make it 5-5. The Rattlers took the lead once again in the bottom of the seventh as Fennell continued his big day at the plate with an RBI single to center that drove home Wynn at 6-5.
The Buffs wouldn't go down without a fight as Hughes and Madrid singled with one out in the top of the ninth as StMU make a call to the bullpen, Givens welcomed Adrian Gonzales to the game with a two-run double to the gap in right center field to give the Buffs a 7-6 lead.
The Rattlers tied the game again in the home half of the ninth as Fernando Zubia singled to center field to score Wynn with one out, the Buffs walked Fennell intentionally followed by a popup to Madrid in the infield before an infield single loaded the bases with two outs but
Chandler Dean ended the threat with a fielder's choice groundout to send the teams into extra innings tied at 7-7.
Kyle Moos doubled down the left field line to leadoff the 10
th followed by a Koelzer single to right field to put Buffs on the corners with no outs,
Caleb Flores lifted a sac fly to left to score pinch-runner
Kix Ferrel to give the Buffs an 8-7 lead.
The Rattlers wouldn't go down without a fight as a leadoff single knocked Dean from the game,
Mitchell Miller entered from the bullpen and forced a flyout to center followed by a pair of walks to load the bases with one out. St. Mary's tied the game on a Buffalo error followed two batters later by a Shawn Tober walkoff single to left field for the 9-8 win.
Miller picked up the loss (0-1) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing one unearned run on one hit with two walks and no strikeouts in his 0.2 innings of relief.
