ABILENE, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's golf team fired a final round 292 (+8) on Tuesday, finishing sixth at the 2019 Lone Star Conference Championship in Abilene, Texas at the Diamondback Golf Course. MSU-Texas won the team championship for the second consecutive season with a final score of 848 (-4).

Texas A&M-Commerce was LSC Championship runner-up behind MSU-Texas for the second season after battling throughout the tournament for the top spot, finishing even with par at 852. Western New Mexico finished third at 856 (+4), with junior Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce claiming the individual title. Soraluce completed the tournament at 204 (-9), with a pair of 4-under rounds and a 1-under round.

Freshman
Eemeli Jarvinen had an impressive outing at his first LSC Championship, finishing tied at 15
th with a 220 (+7). Jarvinen's final round even par moved him up six spots from being tied at 21
st following the second round. Senior
Brayden Cruth finished tied at 20
th with 221 (+8), followed by senior
Michael Hodson tied at 22
nd with a 222 (+9). Fellow senior
Collin Bumpass completed the tournament at 29
th with a 231 (+18), and junior
Colton McMains finished at 30
th (+20).

Two Buffs were named LSC Golfer of the Week this season, including freshman
Eemeli Jarvinen and senior
Michael Hodson. Jarvinen's exceptional first collegiate season included a school record round at 65 (-5) at the St. Edwards Invitational and had four top-15 finishes in nine tournaments.
