Lady Buff Basketball Welcomes Lucy Burke for the 2018-19 Campaign

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's basketball head coach Kristen Mattio has announced the addition of Coffeyville CC transfer Lucy Burk to the Lady Buff roster for the 2018-19 campaign. The Lady Buffs claimed the Lone Star Conference Title last season and advanced to the South Central Regional Finals with an overall record of 29-5.

"Lucy has nice versatility to her game both offensively and defensively, she can really score the ball well from the perimeter with nice range. Her length and mobility with the ball in her hands will also enable her to score in the paint, she will bring a level of toughness to our team that will continue to help us compete at a high level" said Mattio "Lucy has a great IQ for the game and will fit nicely into our style of play, she comes from a family that has a rich tradition of basketball players and a father who coaches as well. Our Lady Buff fans are going to love the way she competes on the court, we are thrilled that Lucy has decided to become a Lady Buff."

The Melbourne, Australia native comes to Canyon following two standout seasons at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas. She averaged 11.7 points per contest for the Red Ravens as she shot 39.1% from the floor including 34.9% from behind the arc and 76.7% from the charity stripe. Defensively she averaged 5.5 rebounds per game while dishing out 92 assists with 64 steals and 44 blocks.

The 6'0" shooting guard was a two-time All-Jayhawk Conference selection while also excelling in the classroom as a member of the Dean's Honor Roll. Burke helped the Dandenong Rangers Victorian Youth League Women U20 Team to the State Championship while also registering a great run with the Sandringham Sabres in the Victorian Junior Basketball League with three appearances in the Victorian Championship finals.
