CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M took a 27-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back as they rolled to a season opening win over the Mountain Lions of UC-Colorado Springs during the South Central Regional Challenge at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.

Tyesha Taylor (12),
Lexy Hightower (12),

Abby Spurgin (10) in double-figures. Gamble dished out a game high eight assists while Taylor grabbed six rebounds in the win.
-Jae Ferrin led all players with 24 points as she went 10-of-14 from the floor including 4-of-7 from the charity stripe followed by Anna Davern with eight points, Abby Feickert grabbed six rebounds to lead the Mountain Lions defensively.

- The Lady Buffs went 19-of-35 (54.3%) from the field in the first half including 7-of-17 (41.2%) from behind the arc and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line with 16 rebounds (four offensive, 12 defensive), 12 assists, seven turnovers, no blocks and five steals.
- UC-Colorado Springs finished the first half going 8-of-28 (28.6%) from the floor including 0-of-7 from deep and 5-of-8 (62.5%) from the free throw line with 20 rebounds (nine offensive, 11 defensive), four assists, 17 turnovers, no blocks and one steal.
SECOND HALF:
- WT finished the game going 33-of-69 (47.8%) from the field including 13-of-36 (36.1%) from behind the arc and 5-of-8 (62.5%) from the charity stripe with 35 rebounds (10 offensive, 25 defensive), 22 assists, 12 turnovers, three blocks and eight steals.
